I've always loved wooden workbenches, carpentry workbenches, even before I had anything to do with wood. I simply like them, like I like a table or a cupboard, and whenever I pass by Mihai Vatavu of Danibrum I admire his desk - a wooden workbench adapted to office work. Come to think of it, there's a bit of poetry here 🙂
What's more, I find the carpenter who builds his own workbench out of wood to be a very sensitive person. And I don't think of myself as sensitive. Every time I watch that movie The Samurai Carpenter builds his own workbench surprising myself by discovering the pleasure of watching the movie "over and over again". The man also has building plans that you can have, for a fee, by on this page. If you prefer the no-cost option, you'll have to do your research on the internet, as there is plenty of material to draw inspiration from.
Skipping the poetry, the carpentry workbench is the place where hand tool work takes place. There are many different types, with different sizes, fixings and features, each reflecting a certain level of complexity. Regardless of the characteristics, a workbench is essential in a carpentry workshop and will contribute to the accuracy and safety of hand tool work.
CălinAt one point, he wanted to build a workbench himself. Researching on the internet, he came up with the following conclusions. Also on his page I found a useful film from Bosch. In addition to the movie, Călin also has in his article a few recommendations worth considering.
However, if you don't have the time to do the research or build it yourself, there's also the ready-built option. At some point Cătălin Sorescu was selling in his shop two models of workbench made in Romania in collaboration with a local carpenter. One model with two vise grips (shoulder and end) and another with a single vise. From what I noticed with him on the page you have to pre-order, following which he will confirm whether his partner (the carpenter) can fulfill the order or not. I ask him to correct me if this is not the case.
There is also the option of buying models built in other lands sold by Danibrum. The first model is made of beech wood with two vice and drawer. Description, features, dimensions in product page from the website.
The second model has smaller dimensions and a single vice. Product information find here.
Finally, I'll leave you with a video of the construction of a mobile workbench that resembles a kitchen island. I don't like the fact that it has metal components, but it's a great solution for people with small workshops who are short of space. Thanks to its mobility it can be "stored" very easily.
And one more thing. I await in the comments your jokes ... work. 🙂
