The new generation of Holzmann boring machines

Although it's the end of the year, the friendly craftsman Holzmann is also working and researching to be able to bring customers complete and complex solutions at competitive prices. In fact, Holzmann Austria has dedicated the whole year to innovation, perfecting and diversifying its machines. Among these, the cant applicators have been particularly successful, with constant demand from customers and distributors leading the company to add the latest technology in the field. As a result, this year the Austrian manufacturer has come up with three new models of edging machines, dedicated to small furniture manufacturers and joinery workshops.

After much testing and having earned a top place in the number of KAM 215 EPS applicators sold, Holzmann Austria comes with 3 new improved models:

  • edge banding machine with pre-frettage KAM 215 EPSV
  • edge banding machine with corner rounding unit KAM 215 EPSK
  • edge banding machine with pre-bending and corner rounding unit KAM 215 ALL

The purpose of these new models is to allow small manufacturers to benefit from the advantages of a machine without a large investment, by purchasing only the services they need or want. The KAM series machines allow producers to achieve and maintain the desired productivity and achieve a higher quality of the finished product. And all at a fair and affordable price. The machines are already in the warehouses of Danibrum - Holzmann's representative in Romania - some of which are now on their way to customers or even in their workshops.

KAM 215 EPS - basic features and starting point for the three new models

KAM 215 EPS is designed specifically for workshops and small producers. Compact and stable, it can easily find its place in any workshop and is very useful for those who process chipboard or MDF for furniture making. The machine applies PVC edgebanding with thicknesses between 0.4 and 3 mm on straight surfaces. The dimensions of the panels that can be bent can be between 10 and 50 mm thick and the minimum processing length 120 mm. The boards are fed automatically and constantly at a speed of 10.3 m/min.

The KAM 215 EPS cant applicator has 6 basic groups:

  • pre-adhesion
  • pressing the edge onto the adhesive panel
  • cutting at the ends
  • loitering on the right
  • profiled milling on both sides
  • polishing

The edge is glued to the panel with thermoplastic adhesive. Heating starts as soon as the machine is switched on, but there is also a stand-by function to avoid overheating of the adhesive in the tub. The temperature can be adjusted electronically from a touch-screen panel. The adhesive is placed directly on the panel, to which the edge is then applied. Pressing is done with 4 pressure rollers to ensure a very good contact between the panel and the edgeband, resulting in a durable bond. Cutting the edgebanding at the ends is very precise and is done with 2 independent circular cutters. The splicing unit removes excess adhesive from the bottom and top face and the profiled cutters ensure 2 mm radius milling on both sides. For setting the edge types, the KAM 215 EPS has an adjustment unit equipped with a counter.

By adding 2 more workgroups, the pre-frettage group and the corner rounding group, Holzmann now offers more possibilities, bringing this range of workshop cant applicators into the middle class. The added groups allow the furniture manufacturer to achieve a higher quality of finished product. At the same time, they can choose the right machine for their needs, from a machine with basic equipment to a machine comparable in performance to those used by the major furniture manufacturers.

What do the new groups do in addition?
Pre-braking group processes the panel so that the edge application is perfect. It's a machine for the very demanding. Pre-planing eliminates any defects that may occur when cutting chipboard or MDF so that the edgebanding is perfect and no surface imperfections appear underneath.
Rounding group at corners mill the edge so that the joint between the edge and the panel and between the edges of the edge at the corners is perfect. The quality thus obtained satisfies even the most demanding customer.

These new groupsets, plus the basic ones, are now found in the top of the range KAM 215 ALL. In addition to the features that make it possible to achieve quality, well-crafted panels, the machine has a simple, intuitive and easy-to-use menu. Touch-screen technology makes it easy to switch from one operation to another, with all the information at the operator's fingertips. The adjustable front arm with free rollers securely supports the panels. The machine is equipped with interior lights, door opening protection limiters, emergency buttons located at both ends of the machine and a backfeed protection device.
