Interzum 2025 opened its doors: the most innovative products already awarded

Today, May 20, 2025, the 13th edition of interzum, the international trade fair for the furniture supplier industry, kicked off in Cologne. The day before the official opening, the organizers awarded the most innovative products and concepts in the interzum award 2025.

Out of 146 entries from 23 countries, the international jury awarded prizes to 66 products, of which 12 received the highest distinction - "Best of the Best" - for outstanding innovative achievements.

Sustainability - the main driver of innovation

The central theme of this year's competition is the new "Rethinking Resources" category, which reflects the industry's commitment to sustainability through circular solutions and bio-based materials.

"The products awarded at the interzum award 2025 impressively demonstrate the strong innovative potential of our industry and how consistently sustainable thinking has become part of it," said Maik Fischer, director of interzum.

Sustainable excellence: Best of the Best winners

In the new "Rethinking Resources" category, three projects received the highest distinction:

  • Häfele SE & Co KG - for the Dynamic Living residential module (see video below), which allows flexible use of space in a very small area thanks to movable walls, modular furniture and integrated lighting solutions. The concept follows a holistic sustainable approach: compact construction, low material consumption and energy efficient lighting systems.
  • The Vita Group - for Vita Advanced mattresses, which takes circular design to a new level by using recycled and bio-circulated raw materials. The mattress already meets the requirements of future eco-design guidelines and combines sustainable materials with premium comfort.
  • Forbo Flooring B.V. - for Furniture Linoleum, a surface solution based entirely on natural raw materials: linseed oil, recycled wood flour, backing paper and limestone. With the new Pure Linoleum decor, Forbo completely dispenses with color pigments and highlights the natural coloration of linseed oil.

Outstanding innovations in all categories

In the Function & Components category, Julius Blum GmbH was awarded for the PLICOBOX, a high quality box system for living spaces, while ARTURO SALICE SPA was rewarded for the Exedra2 motorized sliding door system.

In the Materials & Nature category, the winners include Alvic FR Mobiliario S.L. with the Zenit 3.0 decorative panel, Tabu Spa with the ReFIGURED Veneers collection, and OWI GmbH for OWI-FiberFlex, which uses innovative materials in the production of molded parts.

In the Textile & Machinery category, the jury awarded products that combine textile innovation with functionality and sustainability, including Spinks' Microlution™ spring system and Innofa's Snö: Snöphyte & Snöphene textile cooling technologies.
