Mirrors used for decoration and furnishing

The mirror has never been used just to see if we look good when we leave the house or to redo our make-up. In the past, large, imposing mirrors decorated castles and palaces, adding sparkle and elegance. Hall of mirrors in Cestelul Peleș is a good example. Today, designers and architects use it in home decoration to create a sense of space, customise and embellish. When wood-framed mirrors appear in the décor, the sparkle is combined with the warmth, nobility and elegance of wood.

Mirrors can define the style of interior design

Mirrors used for decoration and furnishing can help define the style of a space. A simple arrangement of mirrors on a wall tells us we're in a modern, youthful space, while a wide wooden frame paired with a heavy, aged-looking solid wood table tells us that the home's inhabitants love the rustic, simple look.

Do you want a glamorous look for your home? A high-gloss black chest of drawers combined with a mirror with a matching finished frame will do the trick. Old fashioned or classic style followers don't need to fill the house with all sorts of old and heavy furniture. A classically styled framed mirror can do the job.

Mirrors are used in many interior designs to give a sense of space. Large mirrors, which cover a good part of the wall, reflect the space, giving the viewer the feeling that they are in a much larger space. It is a common subterfuge in living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and bathrooms. With a small investment, it provides added comfort.

The combination of a modern or classic wall coffee table and a mirror on top is very common in interior decoration. Matching the finish of the table with that of the mirror frame can create a beautiful, useful and elegant place in the entrance, living room or other corner of the house.

I was saying at a given time that tables made of a "slice" of solid wood finished as simply as possible are fashionable. Mirrors are also keeping up with fashion, so if you opt for a table like this, it won't be hard to complement your decor by combining it with a similar framed mirror. But it doesn't always have to be combined with another item to find its place in a space. A special shape, a special frame, makes the mirror a highly appreciated decorative element, and it can successfully replace other wall decorations: photos, posters, paintings.

Mirrors make it easy to personalise your space. A well-chosen frame will highlight other specific decorations, enhance them and enrich the place. If you're not convinced, the examples below are sure to help.

By no means do I claim to have covered all the possibilities of decorating with mirrors, not even wood-framed mirrors. I just wanted to highlight the pluses of such fittings. And the more mirrors there are, the better the chance of getting an answer to the question: mirror, mirror on the wall...? 🙂
