Wooden staircase as an interior design element

The interior staircase is an important element in the home. It is not only useful for accessing the upper level, but is also an element of interior design. An elaborate staircase, harmonised with the rest of the interior, can become the centrepiece of the house. The materials from which the staircase can be constructed, but when it is made of wood the interior receives from the warmth and intimacy of this material. This is why wood often becomes an interior designer's first choice.

Interior staircase styles

The styles that can be chosen for an interior staircase are countless. For the interior to be harmonious it is important that the staircase is built in a way that is in keeping with the style of the house, with the other decorations and does not clash. For example, a rustic house should still have a rustic staircase or at least a few elements that suggest the rustic style: steps made of thick boards with a little workmanship, reclaimed wood as a step or counter-step, as natural a finish as possible.

Spiral staircases can be so spectacular that they can easily become the centrepiece of the interior. Made of wood alone or combined with other materials - metal, cement, glass - with a central pillar or made in such a way that they appear to float, spiral staircases are fascinating.

One principle says that myou little can mean more. That's why some staircases are appealing precisely because of their simplicity. Minimalist in construction, looking like wooden steps floating along the wall, they fascinate with their discreet design.

Ladder as furniture

A simple, classic staircase can be integrated into the atmosphere of the house by elements that link it to other furnishings and give it another purpose. The steps can be continued on the wall and thus become a pulpit and the space a minimalist library.

The wooden stairs also give us the possibility to set up spaces to store things. Perhaps the most ingenious arrangement is in the form of shelves of increasing heights. This forms a cupboard or bookcase in steps and also solves the problem of access to the next level.

There are also situations where the staircase has a life of its own, unrelated to the other elements of the house. In this case it can be customised according to one's talents and desires. It can thus become a stepped painting or a way of conveying various messages.

The interior staircase may be more than just the ability to access the floor. It can be an interior design element, a storage space, a part of the décor or a place to show off your talent or original ideas. If you have such a staircase, don't miss the opportunity to show it off.
