Last year in September I was telling you about Creator 950, a CNC for drilling and milling that introduces computer-aided woodworking in a simple and user-friendly way. Not even a year later, the same Creator 950 wins the award for the most revolutionary product of the year at one of the most prestigious international trade fairs - International Woodworking Fair (IWF) Atlanta, USA. Let's see what IWF Atlanta is all about and how it convinced the judges Felder Gruppe - creator of Creator 950 (inevitable pun, isn't it 🙂 ).

IWF Atlanta - International Woodworking Fair - is one of the most important trade fairs in the world. It is attended by all the major manufacturers of machinery and tools for working wood and wood-based panels, and all the representatives of industries connected in one way or another with woodworking and furniture production. The fair is held every two years in August and is regarded as a meeting place for specialists, a showcase for the latest ideas in the industry, as well as a place for discussion and exchange of ideas.
On the occasion of the fair Challengers Award®, an award designed to encourage and promote the development of innovative technologies in the field of woodworking machinery, products and services. Companies that believe they bring something new to their field enter their product in the competition and a jury of 10 members - professionals and experts in advanced technologies, recognized in the field - chooses the finalists.
The final showdown takes place the day before the fair opens, when the finalists give live demonstrations in front of the judges as they try to win the prize. The presentations are followed by the jury debates and the selection of the winners. The highlight is the opening day of the fair when the winners are announced in the presence of guests, participants and visitors. They receive a bronze statuette, already famous among those who are in one way or another connected with woodworking.
This year 72 companies entered the competition and 23 finalists were chosen. Of these only 7 received the Challengers Distinguished Achievement Awardand one of them was Felder Gruppe, for the Creator 950 CNC.
What convinced the jury Creator 950
Creator 950 is part of the Format-4 find a CNC machining center simple and intuitive. For this reason it is considered to be very suitable for getting acquainted with computer-aided machining. With it, drilling and milling becomes much easier to do, with simultaneous machining possible on all 4 sides of the panel. And all in only 5 m²as much as the whole car takes up.
The fact that no preparatory operations are needed to start processing leads to reduced working time. Only one operator is needed to do all the necessary drilling and milling, which is very important at a time when the lack of skilled labor has already become a big problem for the vast majority of contractors. What's more, the machine does not get tired, does not make mistakes and does not get bored, the quality of the work is always the same.
Processing accuracy is guaranteed by unique top-down processing system. The concept of machining the part horizontally in 3/4 axes is one of the arguments that convinced the jury. So even the heaviest workpieces can be easily machined by one person.
The field no longer needs to be selected. The clamping of the workpiece is done with 2 strong pneumatically operated clamps that move with the rack and pinion mechanism that guides the workpiece. For sensitive surfaces, the Creator 950 is equipped with a table with air cushion.
With the Creator 950 you can always stay flexible in applications, optionally using the aggregates you need. The CNC does all-sided grooving and boring, planing and cant milling. You can choose the aggregate you need to do the desired operation without having to have the others.
Optionally, the Creator 950 can be equipped with a fast and accurate automatic stump insertion unit. It acts on the X-axis, the axis on which the panel moves, inserting the blocks on both sides of the X-axis (left - right).

"The next step for your business", under this slogan presented Felder Gruppe Romania the stand dedicated to industrial machinery at BIFE-SIM 2018. At the stand visitors discovered the industrial solutions from the Format-4 range for furniture production. Among them, the Creator 950 was in pride of place. Throughout the fair it could be seen in action, with those interested having access to additional technical information thanks to the company's specialists who were present in large numbers on the stand.
Felder Gruppe Romania tells us that the industrial solutions in the Format-4 range provide the 3 factors necessary for sustainable business development - productivity, flexibility and precision to the tenth of a millimeter. And Creator 950 is no exception.
