To be able to export furniture to countries in the European Community, Romanian manufacturers must comply with sustainability rules and mandatory regulations. European Green Pact (The European Green Deal, unveiled in 2019 and joined by all 27 Member States, sets ambitious targets for climate neutrality and the promotion of the circular economy. Meeting these requirements is essential to remain competitive in international markets, which is why furniture manufacturers choose suppliers that offer innovative and green solutions.
Szolvegy, manufacturer and distributor of TISZABOND adhesives, is meeting these demands with the launch of TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND D3 3115 GREENBOND adhesive earlier this year. With a content of 15% biomass-derived resins, this product is a sustainable choice, ensuring high performance and helping to reduce environmental impact. By using environmentally friendly adhesives Romanian manufacturers not only comply with European standards, but also strengthen their position as responsible and reliable partners on the European market.
Characteristics of TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND D3 3115 GREENBOND
TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND - waterborne adhesive of the category araceților - is an aqueous dispersion containing reactive polyvinyl acetate groups and a number of additives to prevent settling and improve adhesion. The adhesive is an improved version of the adhesive TISZABONB D3 3105 GREEDBONDThe biomass-based resin content is 151TP33T compared to 51TP33T in the old adhesive. The launch of the new product is in line with the gradual replacement of fossil-based resins by renewable ones, demonstrating that the adhesives industry can also make a significant contribution to the transition to a sustainable economy.
The main properties of the new adhesive are:
- Class D3 moisture resistance. This means it can be used indoors in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms and kitchens, but also outdoors, provided surfaces are protected from prolonged exposure to water.
- Very good adhesion. It performs very well when bonding wood to wood, but also for bonding wood to other porous materials such as concrete, providing a solid and durable bond.
- Environmentally friendly formulation. The content of 15% resin from biomass increases the ecological qualities of the adhesive without compromising its technical and technological performance.
How and where it can be used
Using the adhesive is simple and intuitive. It is ready to use, but water can be added if needed. But not more than 10% because over-dilution increases the drying time and decreases the adhesive film thickness. Therefore, the recommendation is to use undiluted. For fluidization, the adhesive is shaken vigorously in the original packaging. Water is only added if this shaking is not sufficient to make the product sufficiently fluid. Apply by hand with brush, roller or spatula or mechanically. Surfaces to be glued shall be cleaned before dusting, and wood moisture shall not exceed 8-10%. The temperature of the medium, wood and adhesive must be as close as possible and not lower than 5°C.
Due to its D3 moisture resistance class, TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND D3 3115 GREENBOND adhesive is suitable for a range of uses in environments where moisture is present. For example, it can be used where residual moisture in concrete is a problem for other adhesives. It is used for fixing steps on concrete stairs where it provides strong adhesion, ensuring stability and safety. It is also recommended for fitting doors and windows.
The adhesive is compatible with a variety of materials, making it ideal for complex carpentry projects, for gluing wooden furniture. The very good bonding behavior of porous materials makes it suitable for use in construction, but also in DIY projects that need an effective and strong hold.
However, TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND is not recommended for the bonding of structures permanently exposed to water (boats, ships) and those permanently exposed to static loading (roof supporting elements, beams and supporting columns).
Biomass: renewable source for a sustainable future
Biomass is important for the transition to a green economy because it is a renewable resource that offers sustainable alternatives to petroleum-derived materials. It is obtained from agricultural, forestry and urban waste, making use of residues that cannot be used for human or animal consumption.
Using biomass to produce resins used in furniture-related industries such as adhesives, varnishes and paints is important for the environment because:
- Lowers carbon footprint: Biomass, being an organic material, absorbs carbon dioxide during growth, offsetting emissions generated during processing.
- Reducing dependence on oil: Replacing fossil feedstocks with renewable resources helps to reduce fossil fuel use and associated emissions.
- Sustainability: Biomass feedstock is renewable and available in the long term, making it a viable option for the chemical industry.
The use of biomass in the formulation of adhesives, such as TISZABOND D3 3115 GREENBOND, not only reduces the environmental impact but also sets new standards for sustainability in the industry.
Szolvegy - a reliable partner
With the launch of a new adhesive containing biomass resins, Szolvegy demonstrates its continued commitment to the environment and to supporting sustainable industry. Increasing the biomass content to 15% in the formulation of a partner-appreciated adhesive, without affecting its performance, is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint and promoting the use of renewable resources.
This commitment comes at a time when European regulations are imposing strict standards for sustainability, and Romanian furniture manufacturers are faced with the need to comply with these standards in order to remain competitive on international markets. Through its products, Szolvegy not only supports environmental protection efforts, but also becomes a reliable partner for furniture manufacturers who can deliver quality, sustainable products that meet European standards.
