Welcome back to another episode of Designer Spotlight. Today I'd like to introduce you to a creative production workshop started by architects passionate about wood.
Ioana and Gopo are trying to change the world through architecture and design work in all its forms, but they caught my eye with a pair of wooden-framed glasses. And curious as they are I decided to find out more about them and the projects they have in the pipeline.
Thus I discovered that the Prototip Studio brand officially launched with a pair of wooden headphones, which over the last 4 years (May 2012 - the first prototype) have gone through enough modifications that the chances of 2 people meeting 2 people with the same headphone model are very slim. Later they materialized a few furniture ideas, and in 2014 they were entrusted with the design of an entire cafe.
But as I told you that it was the wood-rimmed glasses that piqued my interest, I'll show you some of the models below OO glasses to give you an idea of how cool they are. Yes, I know, you'll say they're "hipster glasses" and you're right, but they're for connoisseurs; everyone else wears Wayfarers... (and I'm sure you'll counter my assertion by arguing with pictures of hipsters wearing Persol; and you'll be right here too)
We tried to get some details on Prototip Studio's upcoming Prototype Studio projects, but they're as secretive as Apple when it comes to new products. All we know is that they've expanded their team, are working with sound engineers, and are hard at work on new designs for the OO Glasses and Wooden Earphones.
If I've piqued your interest with these products, you can see and smell them - at least some of them - at Cărturești, Disband and Contemporist. And if you don't want to smell them before you buy, you can place an order through the their homepage on facebook (where you can see all their products arranged chronologically) or you can go to website their.
