Unveiled at New York Design Week 2016, 'Bellaphone' is a huge acoustic funnel made of wood that amplifies the sounds produced by a device at its base. The funnel's functionality is a testament to the acoustic qualities of wood, chosen not by chance.
The project belongs to the company FIDDLE + HAMMER owned and run by a former sculptor and violinist. Each time they aim to create quality pieces using the best materials available. For this project, wood from tequila and whiskey barrels was chosen with the intention of converting it into a new product with a modern aesthetic that expresses both a love of wood and music. The pieces vary in size and can be integrated into any system or application, from mobile devices to home theater audio systems.
Wood + music + tequila = an interesting shaped mix.
