Nautilus - snail table by designer Marc Fish

British designer Marc Fish started making contemporary furniture more than 15 years ago. With a background in metal fabrication, the choice of material for his first project surprised no one - steel. From this material he made 6 dining chairs. However, the project, which received both good and not so good reviews, was the beginning of his journey in the furniture world.

From metal objects to exclusive wooden furniture designer

A few years later, after studying with leading representatives of English high-class furniture and taking part in various competitions and being rewarded with prizes, Marc Fish is internationally recognized as an important furniture designer and manufacturer. He works in wood, combined with glass and metal, and his work is outstanding.

Marc's passion is unique and exclusive pieces. He draws inspiration from natural forms, art, sculpture and architecture. He works with the finest veneers and special woods and the fact that he originally worked with metal makes him very attentive to detail and sets him apart from the average manufacturer of wooden furniture.

Now Marc lectures on furniture making, writes articles in Furniture & Cabinets Making Magazine and creates unique furniture.

The divine proportion of the Nautilus coffee table

The Nautilus table is one of the most beautiful coffee tables ever created. It has been made in limited edition since 2011, when Nautilis I was made. In 2015 Nautilis V was launched, also in limited edition.

The table design is inspired by marine life. It is made from over 4000 pieces of walnut, pine veneer and Japanese paper. It was designed using proportion of gold or the divine proportion used by the ancient Greeks and artists of the Renaissance period in their work. The table reproduces the shell of an ocean snail, and each outer part has been modeled by hand.
