For 2 weeks, the exhibition curated by Mihaela Ion, at the Underground Gallery in Timisoara, "A new lifestyle trend" could be visited by the general public. The jewelry made by Angela Ciobanu, the wood on wood paintings created by Liliana Stoica and the furniture designed by Ciprian Manda transformed the Underground Gallery into a space of cultural consumption for a new lifestyle trend, dedicated to those who appreciate author's products.
Curator Mihaela Ion declares "The author's products, whether jewelry, paintings or furniture have broken the barrier of the conventional and have their place in art galleries, museums and spaces specially created for the consumption of creative industry and culture. This exhibition presented exactly that, that the place of author's products is in art galleries and to be exhibited with this status to the public they need a curator able to properly panelize them".
The exhibition was conceived as a journey between light and shadows, old materials and techniques reinterpreted through new techniques. The luxury jewelry created by Angela Ciobanu found its place in the lanterns, the vibrantly colored paintings by Lana Stoica were fitted in the five rooms of the Underground Gallery, and the furniture by Ciprian Manda presented an alternative to the banal chairs, stools and poles.
The public was fascinated by the exhibition and the curatorial concept, which was also demonstrated by the many texts in the exhibition book. The project "A new lifestyle trend" supports the production of Romanian 100% products, sometimes inspired by the Romanian traditional heritage, with the promotion of the concepts proposed by the exhibiting artists: Liliana Stoica, Ciprian Manda and Angela Ciobanu.
The timing of this exhibition is also very important, as we are currently facing a general trend towards opening up to new emerging art and design markets, discovering new national values and embracing authorial products as (inter)national goods.
The advantage of this project is that it is an event created by the Creative Workshop Association www.revista-atelierul.ro, an association with more than 7 years of experience in the field, which constantly promotes the Romanian creative industry and culture at national and international level. Atelierul magazine (www.revista-atelierul.ro), the main project of the Atelierul de Creație Association, is an active platform for the online and offline promotion of the creative and cultural industries in Romania and abroad. Atelierul magazine has positioned itself since its founding in 2010 as an active promoter of author and designer products and emerged at a time when the culture of designers and creators of unique objects began to grow in Romania and it became increasingly necessary to have a structure where creators and designers of products and ideas could find themselves.
