The White Night of creators and product designers returns for its sixth edition, dedicated to Romanian cultural tradition.
An exhibition where you can touch the products and don't have to keep quiet. A showroom where you have over thirty guides, each of them the architects of their own design. A pop-up shop without a sale, but full of inspiration and making you look at Romanian design with new eyes - that's what it is White night of product creators and designers, which opens the doors University of Architecture and Urbanism "Ion Mincu" in Bucharest, on November 25, 2017. The event will take place from 19:00 - 2:00, and admission is free.
The design product has broadened its horizons and has taken on the status of an art object - art that we wear, that beautifies our homes and that we can use every day. Because we are given this space for dialog, artistic experimentation and interaction with the creators of products, content and ideas, it is easier to understand the value of an author's product, discovering its manufacturing process and the concept behind it, and to integrate it and make it part of our lifestyle.
The event has a twofold mission - to educate the public towards Romanian contemporary product design, as unique and valuable as internationally circulating art, but also to clarify the status of an art object: a choice that represents us.
This sixth edition of the White Night of Creators and Product Designers is dedicated to the Romanian cultural tradition and the many ways to adapt it to the contemporary. More than twenty Romanian participants chosen by the official jury, plus students from the University of Architecture and Urbanism selected by their internal committee, will bring to the public five products they have created over the past year: jewelry, accessories, furniture and decorative objects. We continue our tradition of educating the spectators and creating a long-term interest - that's why the exhibited products are not for sale, because choosing Romanian art and design is a conscious choice and not a momentary impulse.
The Assamblage School of Contemporary Jewelry will also participate with part of the jewelry exhibition Camera Lucida.
Thus, facilitating the context of interaction, all those interested in design and contemporary art are invited to meet the artists and designers, to admire their products and, why not, to initiate collaborations and partnerships within this active space for the promotion of Romanian creative industries.
The White Night of Creators and Product Designers project is carried out by the team of Atelierul de Creație Association, a non-profit organization that has been supporting, for more than seven years, alternative approaches to presentation in new spaces of cultural consumption. Confirmation of this merit came also through the inclusion of the project among the finalists at the Civil Society Gala, Art and Culture and Impact sections, Elle Decoration Gala and the funding received from the AFCN and the Ministry of Culture. Moreover, its volunteers were among the finalists of the National Volunteers Gala, Art and Culture section.
At this edition proposes a public-private partnership, the organizers, the association Atelierul de Creație transform the exhibition hall of the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism into a space for presenting the latest products created in Romania.
