NACD 2017 pop-up exhibition dedicated to creatives

White night of product creators and designers, 2017 edition has shown us once again that the place of authorship products is and must be in spaces of cultural consumption. This sixth edition of The White Night of creators and product designers was dedicated to the Romanian cultural tradition and the many ways of adapting it to the contemporary, and the products selected were a perfect fit for the proposed concept. Romanian tradition is a defining motif for the Romanian cultural and creative industry, and designers and product creators emphasize this aspect in their artistic statements. For this edition, the organizers - Atelierul de Creație Association - have transformed the exhibition hall of the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism into a space to present the latest products created in Romania.

The White Night of Product Designers - 2017 edition in figures:

87 participating designers and product creators, over 36 media partners, over 2,500 visitors, a private-public partnership between the Creative Workshop Association (www.revista-atelierul.ro) and Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, a fundraiser, two live bands and a DJ.

For one night, sleep was replaced by a pop-up exhibition with the new signature collections of Romanian and foreign designers and product creators who also told the interested public all about their products. The barrier was broken designer - creation - public and brought them all, for one night, in the same room, in a creative networking space. And the curator - architect Cristiana Zgripcea has created a coherent and clear exhibition route, so that each work and author is presented as well as possible.

Mihaela Ion, project director of White Night of product creators and designers, says "The exhibitors selected by the Atelier team, and present exclusively in the showroom, presented another facet of product design, namely products that speak for themselves. Through the project White Night of Creators and Product Designers 2017, we brought under the same dome 2 facets of the Romanian creative industries, one academic and one private, each with its own rules, sometimes difficult to intertwine and assimilate. We want the next editions to carry forward the private - public partnership, in an attempt to educate and present to the informed public, 2 different but perhaps equally creative worlds according to their dogmas, 2 worlds that can learn from each other how to make internationally competitive creative products and ideas. For 7 hours, the UAUIM foyer was no longer just a hallway, it became a space to consume alternative culture. "

I loved the variety of ideas and the fact that everyone brought a new project, presented for the first time. This is one of the few exhibitions where visitors can touch and study the exhibits closely and discuss and give feedback directly to the designers."

White Night of Product Creators and Designers project is produced by the team of the Association Atelierul de Creație (www.revista-atelierul.ro), a non-profit organization that has been supporting, through all its projects, for seven years, alternative approaches to the presentation of creative industries in new spaces of cultural consumption. Since its foundation in 2011, it has been contributing to building and developing the community of designers and makers internationally.
