A white night, seventy designers and hundreds of art objects

November 25, 2017 is White night for designers and product creators - That's seven hours, over seventy designers, hundreds of art objects to wear, to give and to take home.

One night a year is no longer for sleep, concerts or going out with friends. One night a year an exhibition happens, otherwise - we don't admire objects in silence but their stories are told out loud. One night a year we stop trying to intuit what the artist meant and have not one curator but over thirty creators eager to explain how the idea turned into a work of art. One night a year where we don't sell or buy but it fills us with inspiration, educates us and makes us take on the challenge of choosing art as a lifestyle. One night a year - the White Night of creators and product designers - on November 25, 2017the University of Architecture and Urban Planning "Ion Mincu" in Bucharest. The event took place between 19:00 - 2:00, free entry.

MATIUS

The products made by the designer, thanks to the concept and the technique of realization, have acquired the status of objects of art and, at the same time, are no longer meant to be kept in showcases and galleries but become art that we wear, that beautifies our homes and that we can use every day. Art integrated into our lives becomes a manifesto, a declaration, a statement, a conscious choice that defines us and brings us closer together.

The White Night of creators and product designers offers, once a year, a space for dialog, artistic experimentation and interaction with creators of products, content and ideas. The event has a twofold mission - to educate the public about contemporary Romanian product design, which is as unique and valuable as internationally circulating art, and to clarify the status and value of an art object for each of us.

"This year's edition will bring together product creators, the interested public, renowned architects, under the dome of the "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism. We have thus managed to create a new space for the consumption of culture through this pop-up exhibition in the exhibition halls of the University of Architecture, thus bringing together the public and private sectors and I hope it will be a first step for such collaborations in the Romanian creative industry. Also, this year, we propose to the public Romanian creators working abroad or artists from abroad brought thanks to our partners from Assamblage. We also want to provide a perspective on the status of creative industries from abroad." Mihaela ION, project manager.

The White Night of Creators and Product Designers project is carried out by the team of the Creative Workshop Association, a non-profit organisation that has been supporting alternative approaches to presentation in new spaces of cultural consumption for more than seven years. Confirmation of this merit came with the inclusion of the project among the finalists at the Civil Society Gala, Art and Culture and Impact sections, Elle Decoration Gala and the funding received from AFCN and the Ministry of Culture. Moreover, its volunteers were among the finalists of the National Volunteers Gala, Art and Culture section.
