Wood-Mizer introduces the innovative HR250 horizontal double-blade cross-cut saw

Wood-Mizer introduces a new model of a horizontal twin-blade, single-frame rip saw. The HR250 saw can make one or two cuts in one pass, for resawing prisms and planks.

The new cutting head configuration makes the machine compact and easy to integrate into existing wood processing lines in limited workshop space. The equipment is delivered on a single pallet and can be installed in just a few hours.

The multiple advantages of the new design derive from the innovative beltless flywheel assemblies, blade tensioning systems and material clamping during cutting.

The upper and lower flywheels are driven by two individual 15kW electric motors. The HR250 is equipped with 710 mm dynamically balanced steel flywheels without belts, allowing the use of 32 mm and 35 mm wide ribbon blades, or optionally wider flywheels for 38 mm and 50 mm blades. In addition, a rubber conveyor belt transfers the prism and planks through the cutting blades at a variable feed rate of between 5 and 25 m/min. The HR250 saw provides unprecedented flexibility with the ability to respond quickly to market needs, cutting both soft and hardwood to increase productivity.

The automatic tensioning system maintains the correct tension of the blade during the sawing process for longer blade life, stopping the machine immediately in case of blade breakage and thus ensuring that internal damage to the machine and the wood material is avoided.

Cutting accuracy is ensured by the Setworks digital controller that quickly positions each cloth separately while setting the cutting thickness. In addition, cutting accuracy is ensured by an automatic pinch roller, which keeps the material stable on the conveyor belt.

"Since the company's inception, Wood-Mizer has produced a wide range of sawing saws, providing different levels of productivity"says Adam Kubiak, Industrial Products Sales Manager at Wood-Mizer, Poland. "Based on the modular design, each model of the traditional Wood-Mizer horizontal cross-cut saws, such as the HR500, HR700 and HR1000, has two cutting heads cutting installed one by one".

"But the HR250 is a completely new design for Wood-Mizer"continues Adam Kubiak. "Our engineers have created a very compact, versatile machine with a lot of innovations that benefit lumber and pallet producers, making them more competitive in the market."
