How to choose the cloth for the ribbon saw

With hundreds of combinations depending on profile and material, each tooth of Wood-Mizer saw blades is precision ground by computer-controlled equipment and fully profiled tip to tip using super abrasive grinding technology to ensure the highest level of blade performance. Manufactured in Europe, all Wood-Mizer blades are verified for performance and quality through over 100 tests and inspections, from raw material selection to final sanding. Compatible with many saw makes and models, you can benefit from Wood-Mizer saw blades with quality, precision and performance that is unmatched globally.

Wood-Mizer produces saw blades with custom lengths on request.

RazorTIP

RazorTIP Stellite® Stellite® RazorTIP blades work great when you need longer life, excellent wear resistance and more resharpening for tropical hardwood and softwood cutting applications. The blades are made of "high alloy" steel with Stellite® hardened teeth. These RazorTIP Stellite® RazorTIP blades have high wear resistance, proving superior performance in standard and heavy cutting compared to other high alloy or carbon blades.

BiMETAL

The BiMETAL cloth is made of two types of steel: alloy steel for the backing material and high speed steel for the tooth tips. In the manufacturing process, the tooth tip in wire form is fused to the backing of the blade by laser welding and in subsequent stages is shaped to the appropriate profile. Typically used for primary cutting on portable or industrial saws, BiMETAL blades have a sharp edge up to three times longer than carbon blades and can be resharpened several times with a CBN disk. BiMETAL saw blades offer longer life than most carbon and high alloy blades and are designed for production cutting environments

  • The types of ribbon cloth available include BiMETAL Standard/BiMETAL Extreme, BiMETAL Standard Hard/BiMETAL Extreme Hard.

MaxFLEX

MaxFLEX is a high quality multi-purpose ribbon cloth for cutting and slitting in environments where maximum service life is required. Featuring 'high grade' steel for maximum life and cut quality, MaxFLEX blades are mainly used on portable and industrial saws. However, you can also use them in re-cutting applications

  • Maintained with CBN sharpening technology
  • Similar material hardness DoubleHARD

DoubleHARD

The original DoubleHARD blade material is made of high alloy steel and is designed for portable and industrial saws. By combining harder high alloy steel and induction hardened teeth, DoubleHARD blades offer twice the strength and sharp life of standard carbon blades, and can be resharpened multiple times with a CBN abrasive wheel. DoubleHARD saw blades are tough universal saw blades for cutting softwood, hardwood, knotty wood and frozen wood

  • Tougher than "carbon steel"
  • Hard, splinter-free material
  • Durable cloth even after multiple resharpening

SilverTIP

SilverTIP blades are manufactured from carbon spring steel to ensure high flexibility and durability. The blades can be used on both portable and industrial saws and are also suitable for horizontal saws. Carbon steel is the most common steel used in narrow band saw blades and can be sharpened with a CBN abrasive disk, but typically not as often as a blade made from a harder steel, such as the DoubleHARD model. SilverTIP saw blades are ideal for economy, primary and secondary cutting as well as high volume cutting environments

  • Softer than 'high alloy steel'
StartCUT

Wood-Mizer also introduced the StartCUT as the cheapest band saw blades on offer. The StartCUT blades are made of carbon spring steel with induction hardened teeth that are hardened and sharpened. For ribbon saw operators who prioritize price, the StartCUT is the right choice as a low-cost saw blade from the world-renowned manufacturer Wood-Mizer
