How to choose the cloth for the ribbon saw

With hundreds of combinations depending on profile and material, each tooth of Wood-Mizer saw blades is precision machined by computer-controlled equipment and profiled completely tip-to-tip using super abrasive grinding technology to ensure blade performance at the highest level. Manufactured in Europe, all Wood-Mizer blades are checked for performance and quality through over 100 tests and inspections, from raw material selection to final sanding. Compatible with many makes and models of saws, you can benefit from Wood-Mizer saw blades through their globally unmatched quality, precision and performance.

Wood-Mizer produces custom length saw blades on request.

RazorTIP

RazorTIP Stellite® blades work great when you need longer life, excellent wear resistance and more resharpening for tropical and even softwood cutting applications. The blades are made from 'high alloy' steel with Stellite® hardened teeth. These RazorTIP Stellite® blades have high wear resistance, proving superior in standard and difficult cuts compared to other high alloy or carbon blades.

  • Teeth are more resistant to grinding than high alloy

BiMETAL

The BiMETAL blade is made of two types of steel: alloy steel for the backing material and high speed steel for the tooth tip. In the manufacturing process, the wire-shaped tooth tip is fused to the web backing by laser welding, and in subsequent stages is shaped to the appropriate profile. Typically used for primary cutting on portable or industrial saws, BiMETAL blades have a sharp edge up to three times longer than carbon blades and can be resharpened several times with a CBN disc. BiMETAL saw blades offer longer life than most carbon and high alloy blades and are designed for production cutting environments.

  • Types of ribbon webs available include BiMETAL Standard/BiMETAL Extreme, BiMETAL Standard Hard/BiMETAL Extreme Hard.

MaxFLEX

MaxFLEX is a high quality multi-purpose ribbon cloth for cutting and slitting in environments where maximum wear life is required. Featuring "high grade" steel for maximum life and cut quality, MaxFLEX blades are primarily used on portable and industrial saws. However, you can also use them in re-cutting applications

DoubleHARD

The original DoubleHARD blade material is made of high alloy steel and is designed for portable and industrial saws. Through the combination of tougher high alloy steel and induction hardened teeth, DoubleHARD blades offer twice the strength and sharp life of standard carbon blades, and can be resharpened multiple times with a CBN abrasive disc. DoubleHARD saw blades are tough universal blades for cutting softwood, hardwood, knotty and frozen wood.

  • Tougher than "carbon steel"
  • Tough, splinter-free material
  • Durable cloth even after several resharpenings

SilverTIP

SilverTIP blades are made of carbon steel arc to ensure high flexibility and durability. The blades can be used on both portable and industrial saws and are also suitable for horizontal saws. Carbon steel is the most common steel used in narrow band saw blades and can be sharpened with a CBN abrasive disc, but typically not as often as a blade made from a harder steel such as DoubleHARD. SilverTIP saw blades are ideal for economy, primary and secondary cutting as well as high volume cutting environments

  • Softer than "high alloy steel"
StartCUT

Wood-Mizer also introduced the StartCUT as the cheapest ribbon saw blades on offer. StartCUT blades are made from induction hardened carbon arc steel with teeth that are hardened and sharpened. For price-conscious ribbon saw operators, StartCUT is the right choice as a low-cost blade from world-renowned manufacturer Wood-Mizer
