- International Workshop "Construim Natural" - 5 Days of Practice and Theory with Clay, Hemp and Straw in Richiș, Jud. Sibiu, Romania The German master carpenter Christian Rummel, settled for many years in Romania, invites you to a unique 5-day workshop dedicated to traditional building techniques with natural materials such as clay, hemp, straw and lime. The "Construim Natural" event will take place from July 21-25 in the picturesque village of Richiș in Sibiu County, Romania. The workshop is open to students, craftsmen and architects eager to learn practical and future-oriented. Participants will make several wall sections, about 12 compartments, which will be walled between beams, using traditional techniques with clay, hemp-glass and straw. [link]
- LIGNA 2025: 80% of the exhibition space is already booked With one year to go before celebrating its 50th anniversary, LIGNA 2025 is already enjoying significant support from exhibiting companies. At the end of May 2024, the organizers of the most important trade fair dedicated to the woodworking industry, Deutsche Messe AG and the VDMA Association for Woodworking Machinery, reported an excellent level of bookings - both in terms of the number of registered companies and exhibition space. Even though some companies opted not to participate in similar events this year, LIGNA 2025 is shaping up to be a major event, with an impressive turnout already confirmed. [link]
- Swiss company Blumer Lehmann expands product range with CLT and BSH Blumer Lehmann, a leading manufacturer in eastern Switzerland, recently announced that it is expanding its product range within its wood industry division. The company will start production of CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) panels and BSH (Brettschichtholz) glued laminated timber products. The new production facilities will enable the company to offer CLT and BSH semi-finished products for the construction industry. The production line for BSH glued laminated timber is scheduled to come on stream in September 2025, while the first CLT panels will be produced in the company's own gluing plant from June 2026. - Apple launches Apple Intelligence, a giant leap in personalized artificial intelligence. Apple recently launched Apple Intelligence, a set of generative AI tools designed to transform interactions with Mac, iPad and iPhone devices. With the new features, users can generate personalized images from text descriptions (Genmoji, Image Playground), turn sketches into illustrations (ImageOne) or create movies with special memories (Memory Movies). In addition, Siri is getting smarter and more human, understanding personal context and being able to carry on natural conversations. Prioritized notifications and advanced typing tools with tone and synthesis suggestions are also part of Apple Intelligence.
