At this year's the Xylexpo fair in Milan, the Wood Magazine team had the pleasure to talk to representatives of SARMAX, an Italian company with a strong presence in the woodworking machinery market. Andrea Righi, Technical Director, and Andrea Reggiani, owner of SARMAX, gave us an in-depth look at their product range and company history. Video at the end of the article.
SARMAX: A success story in the wood industry
Founded in 2003 by Andrea Reggiani, SARMAX has grown steadily in its 22 years of existence. With over 40 years of experience in woodworking machinery, Reggiani has brought innovation to the center of the company's philosophy. Starting with impregnating machines for beams and building elements, SARMAX has gradually expanded its portfolio to include a wide range of wood finishing machines.
Innovative technologies for diverse applications
Andrea Righi presented some of the company's top products:
- APACHE 15: A large impregnating machine capable of processing massive beams. It uses an innovative air system for even distribution of impregnant.
- APACHE 5: A more compact version, but with the same technologically advanced features, including Teflon coating and patented quick-change roller system.
- Brushing and rusticating machines: These can create great aesthetic effects, highlighting the grain of the wood. A notable example is the 'saw-saw' effect, popular in luxury homes in Italy.
- Spray painting machines: allow precise paint application with micron-level adjustments.
- Carpentry finishers: Covering a wide range of products from doors and frames to shutters.
- Window smoothing machines: a recent innovation that reduces the need for sanding between coats of paint, saving time and resources.
Global expansion and market adaptation
SARMAX started as a company focused on the Italian market, but quickly expanded into countries such as Spain and France. Today, the company has a strong presence throughout Europe, including Romania, where it works with Ligna Dumitech in Brasov. In recent years, SARMAX has also entered markets in the United States, Canada and Australia.
Adapting to new market demands is a priority for SARMAX. The company has recently obtained patents for air management and energy saving, responding to modern concerns about efficiency and sustainability.
Conclusion
SARMAX's presence at Xylexpo 2024 once again demonstrated the company's commitment to innovation and quality in the woodworking industry. With a diverse product range and a forward-looking vision, SARMAX continues to be a major player in the global woodworking machinery market.
