In a strategic move that confirms the extraordinary potential of timber construction, the DERIX Group, one of the European leaders in the field, is expands facilities in Niederkrüchten, Germanyby developing the new DERIX Campus.
The project, in collaboration with STRUCTURELAB Architekten, includes administrative and office buildings that will also serve as a showroom for the entire DERIX product range. "The distinctive element of this project is that our new products, such as ribbed ceilings, will be integrated directly into the construction, while the wooden surfaces will remain visible. Visitors will thus be able to directly experience the quality and versatility of wooden constructions," explains the company representatives.
Markus Steppler, Managing Director of the DERIX Group, emphasizes the importance of sustainability in the company's vision: "The expansion at Niederkrüchten is more than just new buildings. It is a demonstration of our commitment to the circular economy. The DERIX Campus buildings are designed with demountable elements, and the development even allows for the de-waterproofing of parts of the company's site."
Optimism about the future of the industry is also shared by Markus Derix, owner and managing director of the DERIX Group: "Circular timber constructions are becoming increasingly relevant. In addition to the unrivalled advantages in terms of sustainability and climate protection, the economics of reusing components are becoming increasingly attractive. We are convinced that the timber construction boom is just beginning."
This expansion comes shortly after the DERIX Group added a third production site dedicated to modular wood construction in August 2023, strengthening its position in this growing market.
