Danibrum at Ligna 2025: Romania knocks timidly on the door of major machinery manufacturers

At Ligna 2025, a special moment happened for the Romanian woodworking machinery industry. After a long absence, Romania had a representative again at the world's leading trade fair: Danibrum from Comănești, Bacău.

"After many years we are once again a Romanian machinery exhibitor," he says proudly Mihai VatavuDanibrum's representative at Ligna. And the comeback has not gone unnoticed: "The top three visitors to our stand were from Australia, Myanmar and South Africa."

Mission in Hanover: to show that Romania can

"We chose to come to Ligna because we started to export to Germany, Ireland and England and we saw that Danibrum machines are appreciated and not only appreciated, they have incredibly good results in Europe", explains Mihai the motivations for this major investment.

For a Romanian company with 24 years of experience in the field, the return to Ligna was not just a product presentation, but a declaration of intent: "We came to show Europe, even the world, that we have very good solutions in Romania."

Romanian production: from conception to execution

What makes the Danibrum story truly remarkable is that we are not just talking about distribution or assembly, but about Genuine Romanian engineering. "Because we, at Danibrum, have designed our machines, at least for the sanding machines and CNCs," emphasizes Mihai.

"Even though we produce most of them in China, we designed them in Romania," he continues, explaining the business model that combines Romanian design expertise with Asian manufacturing efficiency.

Two strengths: sanding and modular CNC

At Ligna 2025, Danibrum came up with a clear two-pronged strategy:

1. Sanding machines - Romanian 100% production:

"We have become manufacturers for the sanding machines we actually produce in Romania", Mihai announces. This means that Danibrum is no longer just a distributor but actual manufacturer on the national territory.

2. Modular CNC - the innovation that makes the difference:

"We came to launch the CNC," says Mihai about the second big news. Although they didn't manage to physically exhibit it in Ligna ("it's on the way, we'll exhibit it in Comănești, in our showroom"), the concept they have developed seems revolutionary.

"The CNC comes with something extraordinary, we named it, because we worked for almost a year to design it and bring out all the details. What makes it, we say, unique on the Romanian market and at least in Europe, because we haven't found another supplier, is a modular CNC."

The modular concept - maximum flexibility:

"It is a CNC to which the loading table and unloading table, including the drilling unit, can be added after purchase, additional features that customers can upgrade their existing CNC with."

This modular approach responds to a real problem in the market: many manufacturers can't afford or don't initially need a fully equipped CNC, but want the possibility to develop it as their business grows.

The emotional impact: the pride of being Romanian

Attending Ligna also had a strong emotional dimension for the Danibrum team. "Ligna for us was literally extraordinary because here we met clients, we had clients who heard that we came to Ligna and... I only came to shake your hand and to know that I met a Romanian."

"Personally I was very proud, I enjoyed it together with my colleagues, I had a good time, it's a success", Mihai confesses.

Olympic comparison: winners by participation

One of Mihai's favorite moments was meeting a Romanian customer: "One of the customers who visited us, a Romanian, says... The fact that you came to Ligna is just like athletes at the Olympics. We may not win Ligna, but the fact that we came here, we are winners."

This comparison perfectly captures the significance of the moment: it's not only the commercial results that matter, but also the symbolism of being there, of demonstrating that Romania can sit at the table of the world's major machinery manufacturers.

Danibrum: 24 years of constant evolution

To understand the magnitude of this moment, we need to put the Danibrum story into perspective. Headquartered in Comănești, Bacău, the company has grown from a local machinery distributor to a manufacturer that designs its own machines and exports to Europe.

The current portfolio includes:

  • Classic machines: exhausters, circular, milling and planing machines
  • CNC machines: routers, lathes, machining centers
  • Industrial machinery: canting machines, automatic sanding systems

Partnering with brands such as HOUFEK, HOLZMANN, LOHMEYER (Germany), ROBLAND (Belgium) and REMA (Poland) has given Danibrum the experience to develop its own technologies.

The message for Romanian industry

Danibrum's participation in Ligna 2025 sends a strong message to the entire Romanian industry: maybe again. A company from Comănești, Bacău, can design its own machines, export to Europe and stand alongside German, Italian or Chinese giants at the world's most important trade fair.

For the Romanian furniture industry, this moment marks the return of an era: from importers and users of technology to creators and exporters technological solutions.
