From sales of one ton to over 100 - a development with substance

Twenty years ago, Szolvegy's story began quietly, with one ton of adhesive sold a year. Today, the company delivers between 100 and 120 tons a month and is one of the leading suppliers of adhesives for the wood industry in Romania. An impressive development, but it didn't happen overnight.

"We started with small but firm steps. We didn't just look at the numbers, we always wanted to build something sustainable, based on trust and performance"says Matefy Csaba, with that calm and calculated tone that defines him.

Adaptability, but with principles

But beyond the numbers, Szolvegy's journey speaks of a clear principle: smart adaptation. The market demands fast delivery, high-performance products and real sustainability. The company has responded to these challenges with its own delivery fleet, a green product line and an ever-expanding portfolio. When demand shifted to formaldehyde-free products, they were there. When sustainability became more than a trend, they innovated in earnest.

"The industry no longer has time to compromise. Customers demand fast delivery, competitive prices, but also sustainable solutions. And it's our responsibility as manufacturers to deliver all of this in a package."

And Szolvegy is already doing it - through its own distribution fleet, optimized for fast deliveries over distances of up to 500 km, but also through a product portfolio that integrates up to 25% biomass resins.

Green Bond - Green direction

At Szolvegy, innovation is not just a nice word. The company is constantly investing in research, developing biomass-based adhesive formulations that meet the strictest international standards - the 'Green Bond' range - a range of adhesives, specially formulated to deliver high performance while offering low environmental impact. The products are already used by leading companies, including Plimob - the largest manufacturer of wooden chairs for IKEA.

"The partnership with Plimob has been essential. They have raised the bar in terms of quality and sustainability. The fact that they chose us as a supplier for their adhesives validated our efforts and motivated us to continue. If we take a step, we take it well and we think about it for the future."

From 5% to 15%, and then 25% - the progress of the Greenbond range is steady and calculated, and expansion plans include specialized adhesives for the paper and board industry, reinforcing the company's vision of a circular future.

"I don't rush things, but I never stop moving forward. True partnerships are built over time. I try to keep a balance between what the market wants quickly and what you need to build for the long term."

Beyond figures, volumes or chemical formulas, there remains the man. Matefy Csaba is the kind of man who strongly believes in a job well done, in long-term relationships and in the idea that success does not come without consistency.

"I'm not one to rush. I think it's important to remain consistent in the things you believe in, but flexible in how you apply them. And I also believe in being serious. To clients, to colleagues, to yourself. Seriousness is non-negotiable. But technical solutions, business approaches - those have to change with the market."

Whenever he talks about commitments to customers, he returns to the idea of partnership and respect. 

"If you want to grow, you have to help others grow with you. You must deliver exactly what you promise, no excuses. And if problems arise, you have to solve them quickly and correctly. A business relationship is like a personal relationship: it lasts if both partners invest sincerity and effort."
