It seems the dream of many designers is to create the perfect chair. A wooden frame, comfortable, unconventional, aesthetic, durable, with a lifetime guarantee, perfect for indoors and outdoors. The chair in motion is a new attempt inspired by the shape of the spine and the idea of its flexibility and strength. Lithuanian designer Mindaugas Zilionis has dedicated nine years to the project, from idea to realization Spyndi, a chair adaptable to each individual.
The design and construction process was labor-intensive and painstaking, with each chair hand-built from 1260 small pieces of wood finished with hard-wearing organic products and exterior. All these pieces make up 60 segments that fit together in various configurations: armchair, lounger, rocking chair, chair. Spyndi is very flexible and durable, and once assembled it is in constant motion and molds itself freely according to the chosen position. It is so ergonomic that it can support your back, neck and legs. Its versatility is put to good use by the possibility to change its shape. You're practically invited into the game to put your creativity to the test as often as you like, just like in creative games where imagination rules.
You can see the 1260 pieces of wood and the people involved in the story below.
Adaptable and constantly on the move! How else to be a chair of our times?
