I am happy to introduce a new Romanian design brand, especially when they share the same passion as we do, for wood and quality wood products. It's about Unikoti, but more specifically, about Unikoti wood products.
Unikoti is a Romanian design brand launched in the summer of 2016, which proposes decorative objects for a unique and personal space. Unikoti creations are made with great respect for craftsmanship and craftsmanship - and each designer creates their own product, thinking and realizing each stage, from concept and idea to the execution of each detail.
Unikoti products are created by two designer brothers, Bogdan and Florin Moga, and the wooden products are unique creations of Florin, who has always been passionate about wood. He works them by hand and each product receives unique attention, ensuring the quality of each finished object. He believes there are no imperfections, only unique touches of character.
Specific to Unikoti's creations is the care for wood, choosing it on aesthetic and structural considerations, finding creative jointing solutions beyond the nails, using beautiful pieces of wood in themselves, sought after and treated with care.
Approach responsibly how to use wood sources including working with reclaimed materials. Always looking for ways to use and combine the new with the old to create a beautiful and practical object. They find it interesting to find different uses for materials that originally had other purposes.

Burly is the "gnarled" wooden table top (en. burl) which rests on a contrastingly coloured foot made of mahogany and ipe.
Ipe is a hardwood, a dense and resistant wood from South America.
Exotic wood design (en. basswood) is preferred for the tabletop and further enhances the contrast.
Making a box can be easy, buying a nice one can be easy, but a small wooden "safe" for your documents is rare.

Plus, it's far from a mundane wooden box. Even the constructive design elements take it away from the usual simplicity and linear rigour.
It is made of cherry and beech wood, and the veneer used for the lid of the box maintains the overall colour harmony.
Strata is a beautiful box made by cold pressing 210 sheets of veneer.
Keeping the shape, two recipes for combining and alternating the veneers were used, resulting in two variants.
For the Nuc layer there are alternating species of walnut, maple and zebrawood covered ...
... and for the Mahon Strata mahogany, maple and "freckled" maple species on the cover. (en. birdseye maple).
The locking system is unobtrusive and the hinges are well hidden and not visible from the outside at all.
As beautifully crafted as it is, the Strata is more of a jewel box than a jewelry box.
