Why I think you should visit Expowood Brasov (news, practical demonstrations and we're there too)

I invite you to visit Expowood Brasov Fair! As every time there is a trade fair, I invite you to be present because it is an opportunity to inform. It is an opportunity to find out what's new in the industry, to talk to manufacturers and suppliers and to see demonstrations of machines and products. I continue to believe that information is power and even if you don't have the financial strength to buy now, that time will most certainly come and it's good to be as prepared as possible. And Expowood 2018 can help you with important information.

The theme of this year's fair

Every year the organizers have accustomed us to a theme for the fair. This year the fair is called Expowood 4 iTech. It's a well-chosen name to convey that wood harvesting and processing machinery is also in the digital age. Can't say they haven't been until now. But now this way of doing machining is becoming prevalent. Manufacturers, even the very large ones, are also producing machines for small workshops, transforming them with state-of-the-art technologies into real factories.

The interest in small manufacturers is growing, the offer is increasing. Technologies and programs are being adapted to work at workshop level. And so we end up seeing "aged" pieces that look as they did in grandmother's time, made with modern machines that age the wood using computer programs.

Some of the highlights of Expowood 2018

I don't want to spoil the surprises of the organizers and unveil what you will be able to see if you come to the fair in Brasov from April 19-21, but I can give you a few tips to convince you if you are undecided.

Demonstrations on state-of-the-art machinery

East European Trade (EET) will this year be bringing a state-of-the-art nesting machine - the NEXTEC 7707 - that will turn your custom furniture workshop into a real factory. The machine is manufactured by the German manufacturer Holz-Her using the most innovative technologies in the industry.

About this machine we wrote about it at one point, explaining in detail how it works. But what is totally new is that there will be live demonstrations on this machine at the fair in Brasov. They will take place at 12.00 on Friday, April 20. Friday is also reserved for demonstrations and workshops.

Furniture doors as diverse as possible for custom furniture makers

Speaking of custom furniture, NETT FRONT comes with a wide range of furniture doors and drawers, in terms of material (chipboard, MDF, solid wood, composite), finish or design. You can find a wide range of colors, matt or glossy finishes, rustic or very modern looking doors.

The availability of these products makes the work of custom furniture makers easier and increases design possibilities. What's more, through their distributors and resellers, DIY enthusiasts can benefit from furniture doors to build a wardrobe or dressing room or to change the look of old pieces of furniture.

Machinery and equipment for all types of woodworking

There will be lots of woodworking machinery at this fair, you'll be spoilt for choice. One solution may also be WOOD IQ which comes with a wide range of machines for all workshop or factory operations. At Lux Divina, where Expowood Brasov is taking place, the CNC router 2030 Pro with tool magazine, drilling machine, planing machine, milling machine or brush grinding machine will be presented.

If you're lucky, the brush sander could be yours because it's the top prize in the visitor's raffle to be held at the end of the fair on Saturday 21/04. Featured brands will be Wood IQ, ROBland, RSWood, Holzmann and Griggio.

A workshop with lots of color and ideas

A colorful moment and interesting ideas for the home will be the workshop that Red Boutique Decor and Allmycraftstwo of the companies that distribute the products Annie Sloan in Romania, will be held on Friday at 14.00. They will show how to transform an old piece of furniture and will present techniques for antiquing furniture and wood.

Another promise from the hosts is that we will find out what we can do to make the furniture look rustic, vintage, shabby chic or modern. Plus, if you come with a small piece that you'd like to transform, you'll be able to do it there and then (time permitting, of course).

Emergence of new players in the woodworking machinery market

The player is old, but the fact that he bought a woodworking machinery manufacturer has made him a new player in this market. It's WOOD-MIZER, which has bought Swedish woodworking machinery company MOReTENs AB.

With this acquisition Wood-Mizer can offer its customers complete solutions, from primary log processing to advanced wood and wood-based board processing solutions. At Expowood Brasov they will be present with profiling machines, planing machines, milling machines, thickness planing machines and CNC routers.
