The "Beams" collection - the success of Nord Arin at Il Salone

I was very curious to find out what it was like North Arin at Milan Furniture Fair. I saw the preparation for this participation (I told you about her), I noticed the modern design of the furniture pieces and I wanted all this effort to pay off. They told me that being in Milan was a great experience. The Beams collection caught everyone's eyes. The Nord Arin furniture was praised for its design, craftsmanship and attention to detail, and was placed in the Premium segment by the visitors' reviews. The collection could be presented as living room furniture, but its pieces adapt to any place in the home. The most adaptable seems to be the bench, ingeniously supported by round bar stools with a wood center bolt.

Beams Collection

The collection was the surprise that Nord Arin carefully prepared for Il Salone. It is a reinterpretation of solid wood furnitureA combination of modern, minimalist lines and a natural look. Solid wood, straight lines, the discreet combination with metal or glass, innovative opening systems - all of these are convincing. The whole collection represents a return to nature, an appreciation of beauty from imperfection.

Collection name - Beams (grinzi) - comes from the external appearance of the cabinets. The chests of drawers look like a stack of square beams with minimal processing. In reality they're dressers with drawers and doors, roomy and functional. It is the side walls that best suggest the stack of beams. The ends of the beams have cracks, further emphasizing the feel.

The fronts of doors and drawers are made so that the design line is continuous, nodes are also present. This continues the illusion of a beam. The hinges of the doors are covered with thin metal rods leading to the idea of a wooden stack tied with a metal band.

The floating table

This is not the first time Nord Arin has chosen such a representation for a meal. This time the table is realized as part of the collection, the table top and the reinforcement of the glass legs are also inspired by the wooden beams. The 2 legs made of impact-resistant glass make the tabletop appear to float.

The table was combined with simple wooden chairs, suggesting cubes. An inspired choice that highlights the 'floating' countertop.

The most versatile piece in the collection is the bench. In fact, it starts from the chairs to the bench. It's those typical bar stools, round and bolted in the center, so it goes up or down to the desired height. The seat of the stool is round and flat.

On 3 such chairs is placed a wooden top with 3 holes identical to the seat of the chairs. These go into the holes, forming the bench. From 3 seats at the table, you can have 5, even 6. The bench can also be raised or lowered to match the height of the table.

The different colors of the seat tops and seats make the bench even more interesting.

The architecture of the stand integrated the collection very well, forming a whole

The attention to detail seen throughout the collection has been extended to the look of the stand. The simple, straight lines of the collection are also copied by those of the elements from which the stand was made. The interlock between the elements is a reinterpretation of the swallowtail joint.

The whole message was about the beauty of simplicity, of the natural. A much appreciated message, if the reaction of visitors is anything to go by. A lot of contacts were made (over 250, according to Nord Arin representatives), invitations to participate in fairs all over the world were received, future meetings were arranged.

A modern, minimalist approach to solid wood

What stands out about Nord Arin's presence in Milan is the novelty it brings to the idea of solid wood. In recent years we've seen an invasion of tables with thick, straight-edged or unfinished plank-look tops, with metal, plastic or glass legs in various shapes. They continue to be beautiful and admired, because it's all about the natural beauty of wood, but it felt like something new was needed.

The Beams collection brings this new. Although it's solid wood and the natural look, with cracks and knots, is reminiscent of rustic, the furniture is modern and the style minimalist. A new, fresh design that is part of the laudable initiative of Romanian manufacturers with a tradition in furniture making to give credit to young designers and architects and create outstanding collections with personality.

Impressions after the fair

"The International Design Fair in Milan attracts under the same roofs both established companies and young people who want to change the world. Romania's designated area operated on a smaller level under the same principle. Alongside BucinMob, MarkOliver and UbiKubi, this year Nord Arin was also present.

The collection on display is called Beams and is inspired by the structural conglomerates of beams found in timber frame buildings. The quality of the materials and the attention to detail very easily place this collection in the Premium-Luxury segment, and this was also the review of the visitors present at the show. All the pieces were exhibited in a pavilion made exclusively of wood, also by Nord Arin, and we found the swallowtail joints, organically reinterpreted, very interesting.

They made us curious about their presence at BIFE in the fall. We can't wait."
