Launch of the Wood-Mizer MP280 four-sided planer/trimmer

Wood-Mizer is expanding its range of woodworking equipment with the announcement of the launch of the new MP280 planing/profiling machine. This is a compact unit that combines the best features of the already famous and proven MP360 and MP260 planing/trimming machines.

MP280 Flaking/Profiling Machine is a perfect solution for medium to large woodworking companies that want to supply their customers with premium wood products such as floor planks, paneling, paneling, door and window frames, decorative elements and much more.

The MP280 is equipped with an intuitive control panel with switches that link all motors and separate feed mechanism, allowing for low power consumption and noise emissions. The 13.78 kW electric motors drive the cutting heads at 6000 rpm, ensuring the best possible wood surface finish.

The MP280 has two horizontal cutting heads - the upper shaft 410 mm long and 88 mm in diameter and the lower shaft 300 mm x 72 mm and two side cutting heads (one fixed and one movable), which profile the material up to a maximum height of 100 mm. Increased efficiency is made possible by 4-sided machining in a single pass through the machine.

Each cutting head is supplied with two straight HSS knives; however, the heads can also be equipped with profile knives to suit specific customer needs. A solid cast-iron worktable guarantees increased working stability and precision, as well as durability of the construction throughout its lifetime.

The feed mechanism has been incorporated from the larger MP360 unit and comes with a variable speed of 3-15 m/min. The material enters and exits the machine on 1.2m tables with steel curtain guards installed over the machine infeed to prevent material kickback.

There are four log outlets - one 125mm diameter and three 100mm diameter - and additional brushes installed inside the machine to remove residual material around the cutting heads as efficiently as possible. The MP280 planing/profiling machine is compatible with Wood-Mizer MES Wood-Mizer Log Extraction Systems, which have been designed to keep the workplace clean and tidy.
