Launch of the Wood-Mizer MP280 four-sided planer/trimmer

Wood-Mizer expands its range of woodworking equipment with the announcement of the launch of the new MP280 planer/profiler. This is a compact unit that combines the best features of the already famous and proven MP360 and MP260 planer/profilers.

MP280 planer/profiling machine is a perfect solution for medium to large woodworking companies who want to supply their customers with premium wood products such as floor planks, panelling, panels, door and window frames, decorative elements and more.

The MP280 is equipped with an intuitive control panel with switches that couple all motors and the feed mechanism separately, allowing for low power consumption and noise emissions. The 13.78 kW electric motors drive the cutting heads at 6000 rpm, ensuring the best possible finish on the wood surface.

The MP280 has two horizontal cutting heads - the upper shaft is 410 mm long and 88 mm in diameter and the lower shaft is 300 mm x 72 mm and two side cutting heads (one fixed and one movable), which profile material up to a maximum height of 100 mm. Increased efficiency is possible thanks to 4-sided processing in a single pass of the material through the machine.

Each cutting head is supplied with two straight HSS knives; however, the heads can also be fitted with profiling knives to suit specific customer needs. A solid cast-iron worktable guarantees increased stability and working precision, as well as durability of construction over a lifetime.

The feed mechanism has been incorporated from the larger MP360 unit and comes with a variable speed of 3-15 m/min. Material enters and exits the machine on 1.2m tables with steel guard curtains installed over the machine entrance to prevent material recoil.

There are four log discharge holes - one 125 mm and three 100 mm in diameter - and additional brushes installed inside the machine to remove waste material from around the cutter heads as efficiently as possible. The MP280 planer/profiler is compatible with Wood-Mizer MES log extraction systems, which have been designed to keep the workplace clean and tidy.
