Elias Kleespies and Felix Wilhelm are two talented youngsters who will represent Germany at the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 in September. Elias Kleespies hails from Hesse and attended the carpenters' school in Bad Wildungen. Together with his colleague Felix Wilhelm from Baden-Württemberg, they demonstrated their impressive skills at the Holz-Handwerk Nürnberg, in a video by Fachverband Leben Raum Gestaltungwhich you can watch at the end of the article.
During the training session, Kleespies and Wilhelm presented highly accomplished precision joining techniques, demonstrating meticulous precision and clean execution. Felix Wilhelm gave an example of a splice execution, and the WorldSkills expert remarked on the quality of the workmanship, praising the clean connections and half-millimeter dimensional tolerance.
The two young carpenters are having an intense period of preparation before the WorldSkills competition. The session included training on a cabinet model made in a previous competition, with the two receiving tips on veneer application and timing. The whole process involves completing a piece within a strict timeframe, with every detail from connections to finishing meticulously checked. The joints will be evaluated before and after bonding, with every detail being followed, free of saw marks or adhesive.
