At the 2024 edition of the fair Xylexpo in Milan, the Spanish company Barberán presented the latest technologies from its range of coating, laminating, finishing and digital printing machines for the woodworking industry and beyond.
Stephan Ertack, Export Manager at Barberán, gave us an overview of the new products on display at the company's stand. One of the stars of the stand was a coating machine specifically for the PVC and aluminum industry. It features an automatic primer application system, fully managed by a central computer that memorizes recipes for hundreds of different profiles. The amount of primer is automatically adjusted according to the speed and temperature of the profile, without operator intervention.
Another innovative aspect of the machine is the automatic sandpaper roll splicing system, which allows non-stop production. During the roll change, the machine automatically reduces speed and performs the splicing by means of a suction cup clamping, cutting and rotating system.
For coating profiles with complex shapes, Barberán offers options to equip the machine with manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic press wheel adjustment systems, depending on the degree of automation required.
The machine on display also includes an optional rewinder for applying a transparent film to protect the coated surface, widely used for PVC and aluminum profiles.
Barberán can make panel coating machines up to 2.4 meters wide, although the most common widths are 1.4-1.6 m for flat applications.
As far as digital printing is concerned, Stephan Ertack informed us that Barberán already has around 100 lines installed worldwide, capable of printing at speeds of up to 120 m/min, for example for the cardboard packaging industry. For floor tiles and furniture, the line prints at 30-35 m/min and can also be applied on 3D structures perfectly synchronized with the printed decoration.
Barberán sells these technologies on the Romanian market through Ligna Dumi Tech. Below the movie made at Xylexpo 2024 with Stephan Ertack and Barberán technologies.
