Corsica House, Dorna Eco House project, a model of energy efficiency and sustainability

On the east coast of Corsica, a house with spectacular sea views has lived in harmony with the Mediterranean landscape for over 10 years. Corsica House impresses with its exquisite design, its privileged position with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the quality of its workmanship. 10 years after its completion, the project signed by Dorna Eco House remains a model of energy efficiency and sustainability. Built in 2015 by the Dorna Eco House team, Corsica House is an example of a modern timber-framed house that brings together architectural vision, sustainability and the excitement of a dream come true.

Built to last: solid construction, durable materials and refined details

Corsica House is a timberframing construction that combines durability, energy efficiency and natural aesthetics in a harmonious and sustainable whole. Built on a timber frame, the house benefits from high-performance insulation: the exterior walls have been insulated with 25 cm of thermal insulating material, offering high thermal protection, while the roof has been insulated with 30 cm, ensuring a constant temperature inside, whatever the season.

This technical approach is complemented by the choice of premium materials - the facade and terrace are clad in exotic wood and natural stone wainscoting, which ensures durability over time and a natural integration into the Mediterranean landscape. Inside, the antiqued paneling in the bedrooms creates a warm and refined atmosphere, while the electrically-operated windows in the living area add an extra level of comfort and efficiency. All these elements, carefully chosen and precisely crafted, contribute to what defines Casa Corsica: a sustainable, energy-efficient home built to last for generations.

Generous spaces for the whole family's comfort

The house was designed for a couple who wanted a bright and welcoming retreat with plenty of space for all the extended family. The house's 200 m² is clearly divided between a living area - open and airy - and a sleeping area - for privacy and rest. The volumetry and positioning have been designed to make the most of the sea view.

In the entrance area there is a reception hall, a dressing room and a discreetly integrated technical room. The living area is spread over two levels and comprises a spacious living room with high ceilings, an open-plan kitchen and an open mezzanine above. This vertical opening gives a feeling of space and light, creating an atmosphere of freedom and depth. A central element of the house is the wood-burning fireplace, not only as a source of natural and pleasant warmth but also as an aesthetic highlight. Everything has been designed for functionality without compromising on aesthetics: clean lines, visible wood and clear compartmentalization to provide a comfortable living experience.

The night area is designed for privacy and comfort. It includes the 50 m² master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and dressing room, and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and direct access to the terrace. High ceilings with exposed rafters add volume and light to this area of the house.

Panoramic terrace, swimming pool and an apartment hidden under the sky

A generous space for relaxing and socializing, Casa Corsica is a true haven of relaxation. The outdoor space has been designed to make the most of the house's location. Owners benefit from a large suspended terrace, which wraps around the entire building and offers spectacular sea views. The terrace includes a swimming pool harmoniously integrated into the overall architecture, a summer gazebo ideal for al fresco dining and an outdoor living room with a fully equipped kitchen.

Subsequently, due to the difference in ground level, an additional guest apartment was added under this terrace. This extension was carefully carried out, preserving the aesthetic line of the construction and maximizing the utility of the available space.

A collaboration born out of trust and passion for sustainable construction

Corsica House was born out of a collaboration based on trust and shared values, a project realized for a loyal customer who has repeatedly chosen wood construction and the Dorna Eco House team. Over the years, this collaboration has materialized in other successful projects: a house in Alsace, the renovation of a wooden house in the Alps and a 300 m² office building for its factory in France.

"Today, 10 years on, we continue to explore new ideas and opportunities together. Therefore, one of these days, we may return with a new project in collaboration with Mr. Dominique Croizat, who has honored us with his trust and friendship over the years. Such collaborations remind us of what we are building: for people, for nature, for the future." - Dorna Eco House team
