Din Lemn magazine seeks to present interesting works in wood every time. This time they are integrated in a project for a studio apartment. The project is by the team of architects from Miso Architects who have designed an open and bright space. The studio, spread over an area of 52 sqm, is composed of a spacious 40 sqm room, a kitchen and a bathroom. In addition, it benefits from a considerable glazed area of over 5 m in length.
Based on the shape of the room, taking into account the advantage of light and the obvious separation from the functional area of the kitchen, it was decided to divide the room into two spaces - the living room and the night room.
This demarcation is achieved by differentiating the texture and height of the flooring between the two areas, with the bedroom raised on a wood-panelled platform. Access can be gained from two sides, from the living area and from the 'hallway' area.
The platform also has a functional role, with storage spaces in the form of drawers or hangers. The main drawer at the base of the platform has the system and dimensions of a single bed, so that it can be used as a single bed if necessary by attaching a mattress.
This space is also separated from the living area by a wall of oak slats, which are attached with a special system designed to allow each slat to rotate around its own axis, forming a closed wall. In the bedroom area, where less natural light reaches, a design element has been installed to create an interesting play of shadows. It is a wall made of differently shaped pieces of plywood with LED lighting, which manages to give the space a pleasant ambient light.
The light fittings in the living and sleeping areas are handmade from wood veneer. Their creators believe that nothing else diffuses light more beautifully than natural wood veneer.
