It's great to be able to give your loved ones something you've made with your own hands for the holidays, or to adorn your home, yard or patio with decorations you've worked hard to make yourself. Below are some ideas for Christmas decorations made from wood. They are simple but charming and easy to make.
Decorating with toothpicks
The simplest is to use what is already in the house. For example, we all have toothpicks at home. Well, with these toothpicks you can make some beautiful decorations. Here are just two examples. The first idea is to make a star using 8 toothpicks (top picture). Glue where they overlap with a drop of superglue, then wrap red wool around the glue. Tie a longer piece of wool to one of the corners so that you can attach the decoration to the branch of the tree.
The second idea is to stick toothpicks into a ball of chewing gum. This forms a sphere. Spray paint the sphere with metallic paint. It will make a beautiful globe.
Coffee sticks
You can also use wooden coffee stir sticks. You can color them in different colors, then place them in the shape of a star, glue them with superglue and the decoration is ready.
Add some glitter on top and it's even more eye-catching.
You can also make a wreath to put at the entrance. Cut a piece of cardboard into a circle. The size depends on how big you want the wreath to be. Glue chopsticks on the circle, then wrap it with a gold ribbon. It will make a wreath with great effect.
With a little imagination you can make other decorations. To make it easier you can take inspiration from the image below.
Wooden clothes pegs
In a previous article I told you how much can be made from clothes pegs. The time has come to see how you can make get the star for the tree using them.
Once you remove the bow from the pliers, you can color the 2 parts before assembling. The star will be even more interesting.
Wooden cubes/squares with letters
Have an old Scrabble game and don't use it anymore? Perfect! You can use the letters to make little decorations for your Christmas tree. Just glue them on a backing and attach something to the branch.
Pine cones
Fir cones have always been used for decorations. They can become the perfect bauble to hang on the tree if you color them and glue a bow on.
You can glue them onto a heart-shaped cardboard template. You will get a very pretty wreath for your front door.
If you want to make a Christmas arrangement and you don't have anything seasonal, don't despair. Look for a clear glass vessel - a bowl, a larger glass, a vase - put cones inside and a few twigs. Hang baubles from the twigs, put a small, lighted candle in the back and you have the perfect arrangement.
Branches
You can also make rustic snowflakes from twigs to hang on the tree or even a small Christmas tree.
Small planks
You can also make things with a little more work, to make it feel like Christmas is coming 🙂 All you need is some older planks, a saw to cut them and a drill to drill holes in them. You can use the planks to make a simple Christmas tree or a slightly more complicated one.
With a bit of drawing, you can make some very cute decorations for your patio or patio.
Slices of twigs
Very different decorations can be made with twig 'slices', but you need to find a place where you can cut the branches or take them away. Once you have them in your possession, it's all very simple and up to your own talent. You can paint them, glue them to the template to make a wreath or glue several pieces together to make snowman decorations.
During the holiday season, making your own decorations is one of the most beautiful, upbeat and fun activities. Such items can also be given as gifts, and the fact that you made it yourself will be greatly appreciated.
