CNC machining centre for an easy start

I recently wrote about Computer Numerically Controlled Machining Center (CNC) and someone, in the comments to the article, asked me to name companies or products so they know where to start. I promised that I would come back with an example of a CNC and now I'm keeping my promise. It's about a CNC machining center that Felder Gruppe, the manufacturer, says it's one of the easiest ways to get to know a CNC. As our reader's wish was to know where to start, I think we've found a beginning.

For those who don't know, Felder Gruppe is a large Austrian manufacturer of classic wood, chipboard and MDF machines with over 60 years of experience. In fact, it is the largest manufacturer of such machines. And yet they pride themselves on being a trusted partner for thousands of woodworking workshops all over the world, with economical or professional solutions for small businesses too. That doesn't mean they don't work with the big manufacturers. They do work, but there things are "written" differently, they talk about the number of machines and the most sophisticated models.

A small manufacturer needs a CNC to help him to machine as accurately, as completely and as safely as possible, both in terms of the machining itself and the machinist. The machining center that meets all these requirements is called the CREATOR 950.

The CREATOR 950 was launched this year at the LIGNA trade fair and was very well received by users. It is a CNC machining center, a CNC for drilling and milling, simple and safe with very good productivity performance. Machining is done in 3/4 axis on the horizontally positioned workpiece. It has 4 tool magazine so tools change quickly and efficiently, hence the very good productivity.

The CREATOR 950 has a number of advantages over similar models. The biggest of these comes from the fact that it is ready to work straight away. It has no suction cups and positioning brackets, and the working field does not have to be chosen. So no time is wasted on part preparation.

Horizontal machining is another advantage. Very heavy parts can be machined in this way by a single operator. Milling interior doors in the cant is no longer a problem either in terms of the size or weight of the doors.

The machine software is very intuitive. Programming can be done simply and quickly without special training. The program produces a 3D representation of the machining that can be seen on the display. This means that all the machining stages to which the workpiece has been subjected can be seen at any time.

Workpieces with very sensitive surfaces can also be machined on the CREATOR 950 without the risk of the surface being damaged in any way. The CNC is equipped with a phenolic resin table with air cushion that guarantees free part movement.

What is important is that high-performance CNCs are available even for small factories and workshops. Using them will increase productivity and reduce the number of people needed for machining. In the case of the CREATOR 950 only one person is needed to do high-precision machining. It's the place to start.

These are not the only advantages such a CNC machining center has. But I think I have piqued your interest and from here the way is open for more detailed information.
