Toilet table - DIY project for a gift

Holidays are always a time for presents. But what gift could be more appropriate than one build it yourself? Looking for all sorts of DIY gift ideas andand comparing them with a list of needs hasltat next project, a dressing table or makeup desk, as I call it. Being limited for space, the sizing of the office fost quite straightforward, measuring 1000 x 410 x 750 mm. For the design I had the following expectations: sufficient number of drawers to provide the space necessary makeup products, large mirror, many bulbs for a bright, vintage look to mold with the rest of the room.

As the final product was to be coated with paintsea, it didn't make much sense to use wood as construction material. The project was therefore realized entirely from MDF 18mm and 12mm for drawers. You can find the whole process from sketch to finishing here

  • How nice it would be if you had written the dimensions, for those who would like to do it but don't have the knowledge to calculate the drawers.

    • To calculate the dimensions of a drawer we need to know three things: the size of the gap (where the drawer will fit), the slides to be used and the thickness of the material the drawer will be made of.
From the width of the gap the thickness of the slides (26mm in the case of the ball bearing slides) will be subtracted and thus the width of the drawer will result.
An example: for a 400 mm x 600 mm x 200 mm (width x length/width x height) void, sliding on 45mm balls 600 mm long and 18 mm MDF material we will have the following dimensions:
      2 pieces x 348x150mm (back and front parts), 2 pieces x 600x150mm (sides) and 348x564mm drawer bottom.
At the end will come the 436x198mm drawer facet (assuming the case walls are also 18mm thick).
