Industrial style living room

A style that some may find cold and unsuitable for a home, while others find exciting and contemporary, is industrial. By its very nature, industrial style is a raw, masculine style, but one that can be tamed and disguised in a welcoming environment with an air of its own. The best part about such a style is that anything goes - metal structures, wood in all its variations, string, textiles, mother nature, copper and lots of imagination put to the test. Of course, industrial style is not just about the furniture in a room, it is just a part of the whole.

In the living room I'll just stick to the furniture and a few accessories.

Commode -Composed of three types of wood - nuc, fag and molid - is the centrepiece of the room, always being in the 'centre' of attention. Construction began by planing the walnut countertop and spruce backing. After inserting three "bow ties" - the famous swallowtails, in this case only for decorative purposes - followed the finishing part - three coats of tung oil and a final coat of safflower wax. The carcass or connecting element between the top and the bottom was made of beech wood. As well as linking the two pieces, it also has a practical role as a holder for two drawers for vinyl records. Both the joints of the casing and the drawers have been made in swallowtail. To be in theme with the rest of the room, the partitions were made of pipes and connectors forming an "H" profile. Having all the lego pieces ready the assembly of the partitions followed.

Coffee table - is part of the same "family" as the chest of drawers, made of walnut wood, dovetail inserts and pipes.

Sofa- Made entirely of spruce wood with a fairly basic finish, two layers of berry and a wax one.

Bar -Made of ash wood, pipes, connectors and flanges. The countertop was made of epoxy resin, ash and 343 different beer caps. More about the countertop and how it was built can be found at here.

To see how all these pieces of furniture were made, including the pipe and ash wood shelves, the trim, the moss panel, the light fittings you can go tohere.
