Sliding doors for more space

Using sliding doors is the way to solve a space problem. We've already seen how well Marian solved the closet access with industrial-style sliding door which he did himself. It's true, he really wanted to make a barn door and made the most of the opportunity. But you don't need to be cramped for space or not know how you're going to open the bathroom or kitchen door without hitting the cupboard or fridge to choose sliding doors as a solution. They're more than a workaround.

Where sliding doors can be used

Sliding doors can only be used if sliding systems can be fitted, if there is enough lateral space to open the door (unless it can be superimposed over another door) and if we want to. We can use them in a wardrobe or dressing room, as room doors, as a way of separating a space, as a solution when there is no room for swing doors, when simple compartmentalization is desired without adding heavy walls to the house.

Some people say that using sliding doors for the bathroom is not a good solution because they do not close tightly. As a result, moisture or odors from the bathroom can get into other rooms. However, there are very ingenious constructive solutions that solve these problems very well.

Wardrobes or dressing rooms are the most common places to use sliding doors. The small space in a bedroom is greatly helped by these doors. In the dressing room, sliding doors allow a wider opening and easier access to clothes.

Reducing them to the level of cupboard doors is unfair. Sliding doors do a very good job in widening or closing off spaces, in simply and easily compartmentalizing large open spaces without a lot of hassle, or in hiding access to stairs or storage areas.

They can be made of solid wood, chipboard or MDF, glass, metal or plastic. The design can be classic or modern, depending on the space in which they are used or what you want.

Cradle systems

Basically, the difference between the ordinary sliding door and the sliding door is the system on which the door slides. To make it possible to use this system, where the doors do not overlap, there needs to be a space at least equal to the width of the door at the side.

There are two main types of sliding systems, depending on how they are attached:

  • for applied doors
  • for framed doors

Applied sliding door systems are mainly used for cabinet doors. The mechanism is affixed to the cupboard box to which it is attached. It is a discreet, invisible system, being covered by the doors it supports.

F framed sliding door systems are visible and have a track only at the top, which grips the ceiling or wall. Hanging framed doors are best suited for compartmentalizing spaces because they do not have a floor-mounted bottom track. The only restriction on their use in wardrobes is aesthetic.

If you want a walk-in wardrobe with sliding doors or to personalize interior spaces, find sliding systems at Accessory. You can choose invisible systems for wooden or glass doors, systems for glass doors with synchronized opening/closing, coplanar sliding doors for cabinets, sliding system with a top rail and guide roller, complete sliding door system in aluminum profiles with 2 tracks, frameless sliding glass door system with top track only and much more.

The sliding systems offered by Accesoria have included damping devices for closing and opening, so they are very quiet to use. The devices are also available separately, so they can be purchased as such and used in the other systems.

Why sliding doors?

And if I haven't convinced you yet, here's a list of reasons why you should choose them if you're planning to remodel or build a walk-in closet:

  • Streamlines space and makes it more functional
  • Simple compartmentalization possibilities compared to classical ones
  • Hide appliances or spaces you don't want out of sight
  • Close off spaces or mask access to stairs or hallways
  • Separate a space quickly and easily
  • Enables space to be enlarged when needed
  • Create the illusion of a much bigger space
  • Improves the look of your wardrobe and makes it more accessible and functional
  • Allows for a cupboard in places where there is not enough space to open a swing door
  • Add modern elements to your space
  • Allows easy access to enclosed spaces
  • They are versatile systems that can be easily adapted to different needs and desires.

As you can see there are plenty of reasons to choose sliding doors.
