Wood-Mizer launches LT70 HEAVY-DUTY saw

Wood-Mizer has successfully combined the best features of two successful saws into one new product. The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY sawmill produces industrial-grade lumber with the ease of operation of a professional LT70 sawmill.

The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY saw combines the advanced cutting head that produces exceptional cutting results of the LT70 Professional saw with the high-efficiency, state-of-the-art saw bed of the industrial Wood-Mizer WM4000 thin-cutting Wood-Mizer. This combination ensures high-quality lumber is produced at high speeds and with ease of operation. "LT70 HEAVY-DUTY LT70 HEAVY-DUTY sawmill operators report that productivity has increased considerably thanks to easy operation and fast log processing"says Hubert Powietrzynski, Sales Director of Wood-Mizer Europe.

The highly reliable LT70 cutting head is offered in two sizes - STANDARD for logs up to 95 cm in diameter, and WIDE for logs up to 105 cm in diameter. The standard version can produce 73 cm wide planks, while with the wider head, the plank cutting capacity in terms of width increases to 86 cm. The head is fitted with standard plank return arms, which remove the cut plank onto a discharge conveyor for increased efficiency.

The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY uses long blades 38-50 mm wide and 4670 mm long, while the LT70WIDE HEAVY-DUTY requires 38 mm wide and 5000 mm long blades. The performance of the blades is enhanced by electrically adjustable guide arms and an automatic lubrication system, which improve blade life and stability when feeding different sized materials. As an option, the cutting head can be equipped with a peeler to extend blade life and a laser indicator for precision cutting.

The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY standard model comes equipped with a remote operator control station that can be set up in the most convenient location, anywhere around the saw. For automatic plank thickness setting, the operator station includes the well-known fast and accurate SW10 Setworks or optional PLC1, PLC2, or Accuset 2 control device.

The HEAVY-DUTY saws are built on a large, heavy-duty bed that includes a sturdy center log clamp on two rods, a log balancing roller, a support roller and a short conveyor belt. The bed is equipped with a Super Hydraulic package designed for quick and easy handling of heavy logs up to 3 tons. A high-efficiency 5.5 kW hydraulic pump efficiently handles the log handling functions, with two power rollers mounted on twin cylinders for easy positioning of the log on the bed rails, a bi-directional rotating chain mechanism for rotating massive logs, and three double vertical supports for superior stability for catching and turning logs. The bed structure can be extended by adding additional sections (0.9 or 3.6 m in length), a log loading deck, sorting tables or bed lifting legs to integrate into existing processing lines.

"The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY is a powerful saw built on a sturdy and stable bed structure that efficiently processes heavy and massive logs. The optional leg kit provides for lifting the bed frame and thus makes cleaning underneath the saw much easier," - Hubert Powietrzynski shares. "The saw bed is equipped with a high-efficiency hydraulic system, which allows large logs to be handled much faster, which directly results in increased overall productivity. This is the reason why companies producing high-volume, industrial lumber so highly appreciate the LT70 HEAVY-DUTY LT70 sawmill's capabilities."
