Wood-Mizer's world-famous LT15 saw is now portable

Wood-Mizer introduces a new version of the popular LT15 saw that extends the range of uses of this saw range, especially in custom log cutting.

LT15 portable saw

The LT15 range of saws represents a large family of Wood-Mizer saws that includes several popular models, such as the LT15START, LT15CLASSIC, and LT15WIDE. "Until 2017, Wood-Mizer offered a trailer for LT15 saws, but that trailer was only for transport from one point to another. After arriving at the destination, it was necessary to disassemble the saw and install it for use just like any other stationary saw," explains Roman Frontczak, Wood-Mizer Corporate R&D Director. "We have now completely redesigned the LT15START and LT15CLASSIC models, adapting them for use as portable saws, which means the operator can cut while on the trailer."

The towing package includes a wheel axle, support wheel coupling, brake mechanism (1300 kg trailer only), 8 adjustable stabilisers, light bar, side positioning lights and guides. Optional log loading ramps and hand winch can be added for easy loading of logs onto the saw bed. The system is designed for all LT15START and LT15CLASSIC models with S3 Type bed section configuration.

There are two different types of axles of different capacities: 750 kg gross weight for the smaller LT15START model and 1300 kg gross weight for the LT15CLASSIC model. The 1300 kg capacity axle trailer has a brake mechanism installed.

To operate the saw after transport, the operator must set and adjust the saw's eight stabilizers to level the bed, remove the guards above the handwheel and pull the pin that secures the post during transport. Then the saw is ready for operation.

The LT15 portable saw is delivered disassembled with the cutting head and bed sections on one pallet and the trailer package on another pallet. If a customer is to transport the LT15 portable saw on public roads, it is necessary to register the trailer using the approval documents issued by Wood-Mizer. In this case, the saw assembly must be done by a Wood-Mizer technician.

"Compared to the LT15 stationary saw, there have been a lot of changes in the design of the pole, cutting head and saw bed sections," continues Mr Roman Frontczak. "We increased the stability of the bed during transport. All the necessary wires for lighting were placed inside the bed. In this new version of the saw, the control panel and cutting head height scale have been mounted in two positions, suitable for either stationary or mobile operation."

Due to numerous changes in saw design, Wood-Mizer does not offer a separate trailer package as a retrofit kit for previous versions of LT15 saws.

The LT15 range of saws has been in production for many years and has become the clear choice for many woodworking shop owners around the world. The most outstanding features of the LT15 saw are reliability, durability and simple operation at an affordable price. The new LT15 portable saw generates additional benefits for small workshops, farmers, forest property owners and woodworking enthusiasts.
