Wood-Mizer launches LT70 HEAVY-DUTY saw

Wood-Mizer has successfully combined the best features of two successful saws into one new product. The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY saw produces industrial grade lumber with the ease of operation of an LT70 professional saw.

The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY saw combines the advanced cutting head that produces exceptional cutting results of the LT70 Professional with the high-performance, state-of-the-art saw bed of the Wood-Mizer WM4000 thin-cutting industrial model. This combination ensures high quality lumber production at high speeds and with an easy operation. The extremely reliable LT70 cutting head is offered in two sizes - STANDARD for logs up to 95 cm in diameter, and WIDE for logs up to 105 cm in diameter. The standard version can produce planks up to 73 cm wide, while with the wider head, the planking capacity in terms of width increases to 86 cm. The head is equipped with standard plank return arms, which remove the cut plank on a discharge conveyor for increased efficiency.

The LT70 HEAVY-DUTY uses long blades 38-50 mm wide and 4670 mm long, while the LT70WIDE HEAVY-DUTY requires blades 38 mm wide and 5000 mm long. The performance of the blades is enhanced by electrically adjustable guide arms and an automatic lubrication system, operations that improve blade life and blade stability during the throughput of different sized materials. Optionally, the cutting head can be equipped with a peeler to extend the life of the blades and a laser indicator for precision cutting.

The standard LT70 HEAVY-DUTY model comes equipped with a remote operator control station, which can be set up in the most convenient location anywhere around the saw. For automatic plank thickness setting, the operator station includes the well-known fast and accurate SW10 Setworks or optional PLC1, PLC2, or Accuset 2 controller.

HEAVY-DUTY saws are built on a large, heavy-duty bed that includes a sturdy, two-rod center log clamp, log balancing roller, support roller and short conveyor belt. The bed is equipped with a Super Hydraulic package, designed for quick and easy handling of heavy logs up to 3 tons. A 5.5 kW high-efficiency hydraulic pump efficiently provides log handling functions, with two power rollers mounted on double cylinders for easy positioning of the log on the bed rails, a bi-directional chain drive for rotating heavy logs, and three double vertical supports to provide superior stability for log clamping and turning. The bed structure can be extended by adding additional sections (0.9 or 3.6 m long), a log loading deck, sorting tables or bed lifting legs to integrate into existing processing lines.
