Uses trim to define interior spaces, privacy and a unique decor

What are riffles?

Shutters are assemblies of parallel slats made of wood or composite materials that have a decorative role - to separate two spaces or to cover a certain area - or a practical role - to limit or increase the amount of light coming in from the window. Wood trim is obviously sought after because of the recognised qualities of wood.

Building partitions with wooden elements or decorating the walls with slatted panels gives a refined and elegant air to an interior space. Although this kind of interior design looks very modern, refacing has been a part of interior design since the middle of the last century. It's a refined choice often found in luxury hotels or designer homes. It's not a common design style in homes. A wall made of wood trim can become the focal point of a room, an accent that can give a modern, classic or elegant look to the whole house.

Rifling in interior design

Wooden slats are a common device in contemporary architecture. Typically used as walls, the parallel and spaced wooden elements allow light and air to pass through, demarcating the space in an unobtrusive and fluid way. Open-plan wood trim subtly separates different areas without completely blocking the view. The effect is free-flowing energy and a sense of comfort in the space.

Delimitation is not the only role of rifles. Placed on the wall or ceiling, they are a unique decorative element. The warm beauty of the wood is natural and welcoming. Wood brings a sense of calm into the home and the way it is finished makes the space feel rustic or modern, rough or smooth, delicate or robust.

Wood trimmings can be horizontal or vertical. Vertical trimmings are mainly chosen for their sense of space and height. They are made in such a way that no horizontal elements are visible. Decorative trim applied to the wall can help to soundproof the space. They are manufacturers that make such panels, the wooden elements being fastened on a sound-absorbent backing. Being mounted on the wall, the bracket is practically invisible, being mistaken for it.

Reasons to install a wall made of wood trim

There are multiple reasons, both aesthetic and functional, to add a wood trim wall to your home. It can help solve privacy or lighting issues and is a great way to add character and charm to the home without sacrificing light or blocking the view. These elegant structures are an interesting and contemporary way to define spaces in a home, working well with many decor styles. Below, just a few ideas for using reflates.

Delimiting a small space, hiding it to create privacy. A refill can separate the entrance space from the rest of the living room. It can be used to create a study or reading area in the bedroom or living room, or to hide access to technical or storage rooms.

Stair rail replacement. The use of refacing as a stair banister is increasingly common in interior design. It's a great way to camouflage staircases with the help of railings or, on the contrary, to highlight them. Using wooden elements creates an interesting focal point and increases safety for those using the staircase. With a decorative refacing instead of a solid wall more light arrives on a dark stairwell.

Separation of a large room. Whether you have a very large living room or live in a studio apartment, reflates can help you define areas. In the case of the living room, the kitchen or dining area can be separated from the rest and recreation area. In the case of the studio, a well-made trim can separate the bedroom area from the rest of the space or create a well-defined study area.

Making an original wall, a point of attraction. Trimming can be an artistic way to decorate your interior. Wooden slats create interesting light and shadow patterns and are generally unique in a home. Placed on the wall, the riffles become attractive patterns through the way they are placed or the colours used to paint the wood. Using noble woods (nuc, palisander) or exotic the space acquires elegance and preciousness.

Making a unique piece of furniture. The trim can be used to make a clothes peg, a TV stand, a bed tray or useful poles in the bathroom or kitchen. They can be used as a support for a green wall, with houseplants or to hide radiators. It's up to your imagination and personality.

The trimmings are also a very inspired choice for decorating the outside of the house and especially for making shading elements. But more about them in another article.
