LX50START vs LX50SUPER: Which is better for you?

Recently, Klaus Longmuss, Director of Wood-Mizer Germany, presented two new additions to the Wood-Mizer machine range: the LX50START and LX50SUPER. These models represent the perfect combination of Wood-Mizer's decades of experience and customer feedback, offering a solution to emerging market challenges. In other words, products launched on a market trend. But let's take them one by one.

Market Context and Innovation Motivation

Over the years, Wood-Mizer has sold thousands of LT models, setting an industry standard for quality saws at affordable prices. The success of the LT series and the increased demand for such equipment has revealed a large and diverse market with specific needs. A significant part of this market includes occasional or private users who prefer affordability without compromising quality.

The challenge also came from budget products, especially those made in China, where saws offered at very competitive prices attracted buyers. This prompted Wood-Mizer to rethink, innovate and adapt. The result is the introduction of the LX50START and LX50SUPER models, designed to compete directly with these cheaper alternatives, while maintaining the high standards of quality and reliability characteristic of the Wood-Mizer brand.

Distinctive features of the LX50START and LX50SUPER

Presented at the headquarters in Koło, Poland, where Wood-Mizer's European production unit is located, these new models are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the targeted market segments. The LX50START and LX50SUPER retain Wood-Mizer's renowned quality and durability, while bringing significant improvements in production efficiency and affordability.

LX50START is ideal for users who require occasional use of the equipment, offering a 9.5 hp Kohler engine or a 4 kW electric motor, depending on preference. With a cutting length of 3.1 metres, this model is perfect for smaller projects or occasional use.

LX50SUPERThe other is equipped with a 14 hp Kohler engine or a 5.5 kW electric motor, suitable for heavier loads and more frequent use. The 3.8-metre cutting length, along with folding side supports and the option to add extensions, makes it versatile for a wider variety of applications.

Both models feature innovations in cutting bed design, with differences in side supports, clamps and extension ways, allowing adaptation to the specific needs of each project. In addition, centralising production in Poland has allowed Wood-Mizer to increase efficiency, automate processes and achieve more competitive prices without sacrificing the quality they are known for. Of course, now comes the next question.

What is the price of the LX50START/LX50SUPER and where can it be bought?

The LX50START is priced at €2,995 at the time of writing (10 April 2024) and the LX50SUPER is priced at €3,775. Prices are valid when purchasing the machines online. In addition to buying online at woodmizer.eu/lx50start-sawmill - in the case of LX50START - or from woodmizer.eu/lx50-sawmill - in the case of LX50SUPER - you can also purchase them from Wood-Mizer's local partners.

Conclusion

With the launch of the LX50START and LX50SUPER, Wood-Mizer once again demonstrates its commitment to innovation and adaptability. These models not only meet the demand for quality saws at affordable prices, but also offer customized solutions to meet specific user needs. In an ever-changing industry, Wood-Mizer remains at the forefront with its dedication to quality, durability and affordability.
