I guess I could start by saying: My name is Mihaela and I'm obsessed with decorative baskets. Don't laugh please, it's an addiction too 😊. I have baskets full of photos. Baskets in the bathroom - for small towels, big towels, cosmetics, toilet paper, hair dryer or hairbrushes. Basket in the kitchen for onions and potatoes, basket on the desk for erasers, sharpeners, pencils and other such items. Many of the flower pots in the yard sit - where do you think? - in wicker baskets. I go to the market with the basket. I don't have nets, bags and such. I have a basket that I proudly carry around Matache Market. I think it's even become a recognition item.
I am one of many, many others
When I started to see that there were still too many of them, I looked to see if others had this passion and I can tell you, with great satisfaction, that I play in the little league. Baskets made of wicker, jute, corncob, string, wood, etc., are used a lot, both for storage and decoration. And just so you can see that I'm not just saying it to make excuses, here are some examples.
Baskets are perfect for pantry storage. They are not airtight, air can circulate through the woven wire, so you can store fruit, vegetables, food, spices. In the kitchen you can keep bottles of oil and vinegar, salt, pepper and other spices, wooden butts, spatulas and cooking spoons in the baskets. Bread can be put in the basket, as well as cutlery, glasses, napkins and tablecloths.
They are very useful and practical in the bathroom. Over the years I have noticed that many hotels resort to this option to put cosmetics and towels. With these small baskets, sometimes lined with embroidered cloth, the bathroom looks very elegant.
We can use the baskets for storing items in the house, for organising them. They can be put on shelves, poles, on the table, under the table, in the bookcase, on cupboards. For example, a basket for car keys or mail can be placed on a peg at the entrance. A basket for umbrellas can also be placed at the entrance.
The baskets can hold pots of flowers and plants we have in the house or outside on the patio, balcony or garden.
Baskets are used as decorative elements. They can be placed on the wall, forming a very chic, interesting and special arrangement. They can also be paired with special pieces of furniture or other decorations, "building" together a special corner in the home, to which the baskets contribute warmth, elegance and utility.
There are so many ways to use them. Baskets are so beautiful and so discreet at times that, thoughtfully and tastefully placed, they don't leave the impression of being too much at all.
