Christmas is about telling beautiful stories and more importantly, bringing them to life. One such true story is the one told by Alex Tache through Nest House and brought to reality with the help of Nika Machinery.
Sometimes the people hardest tested by fate are those who do the most good in the world. One such man is Alex Tache who has experienced first hand what it's like to struggle for 14 years with a difficult disease (bone cancer). He has managed to have the energy, enthusiasm and optimism to build a family-type home in which to raise 12 children in a safe and loving environment. For them he wants not only to support them until they come of age (as in orphanages) but to prepare them for the future and teach them a trade. He hopes that in this way they will become part of the good people who carry Romania forward.
To this end, he launched several social businesses so that the project would be self-sustaining and always have something to offer the children. With the help of European funds, he built a chipboard and solid wood furniture factory and a pellet factory where children can learn a trade. In all this, she is working with Nika Utilaje, which won the tender for the purchase of machinery. The representatives of the machinery company were impressed by the young man's story and got fully involved in supporting the project.
But Alex best tells the whole story.
Alex, you have an amazing life story. Please tell us a little bit about it.
I had the misfortune to receive the heavy cross of an incurable disease since the age of 20 (bone cancer). It has meant 14 years and two lifetimes of problems, over ten operations, four of them on my lungs, the amputation of my left leg and the loss of sight in my right eye. I wanted to turn this hardship into something important that would change the world and to give of my enthusiasm and strength to fight. I call it "my share of good" that I owe the world. I wanted to inspire people to give up, to change destinies. This is how I came to conceive NEST House Project. I started to build from sponsorships and donations a half a million euro house, a project that almost nobody believed in, but to make a statement: abandoned children also have the right to equal opportunities. It's been 3 years since we started the project and we have finalized the house for 80%, investing 300 000 euro. In all this time we have received more than we hoped for, an unforgettable journey with wonderful people that I have met and surrounded myself with, who are by my side in my life and project.
Tell us about NEST House. What do you aim to offer through it?
NEST House is a family-type home to foster 12 abandoned children from the transforming welfare system. The aim is to close all the large placement centers (100-200 children) and replace them with these family-type homes with a maximum of 12 beneficiaries, where the children will be in a family rather than institutional setting. We want to do more for them than that, we want to be the central people in their lives, the parents they never had. We want to provide them with a healthy and harmonious family environment, just as we would for our own children, to support and advise them to find their way in life. NEST is an acronym that defines the principles by which we want to raise them: Nobility, Education, STabilitate.
You have said that you very much want this family home to be sustainable. How do you plan to do that?
Although I think we have built this house in a relatively short time, we have noticed how hard it is to raise funds and if we can now stop the construction site at any time without harming anyone, when 12 lives will depend on us, we cannot tell them with the same ease that today we are not eating or not dressing. Thus, we decided to be sustainable and to turn our attention to some social business that will maintain the house, to do more good deeds, but also to help the development of Galicea Commune, Valcea County. From European funds we financed the establishment of social entities, a complete workshop for the manufacture of furniture made of chipboard and wood and a pellet manufacturing line, the tender for the machinery being won by Nika Utilaje. We continue with our dreams and plans and we want to attract more European funds to set up an agro-pension because we have a lot of potential in the area.
You said the machines were supplied by Nika Utilaje. How did you meet the team and how did you work together?
I accidentally discovered the firm Nika Machinery after they won the project through a tender as a result of the European funds procedure. Over time, I was impressed by the professionalism with which they do their job. I first met Mr. Cristian Broșiu who presented their offer in great detail, then I met Adrian Broșiu who also specializes in software and CNC. I was very surprised to find out that it is a family business. Learning about the back story, they decided to get more involved by donating several hand tools needed to work in the workshop and of Bia Software online furniture design software. So we can teach a first trade to our little beneficiaries. What's more, Nika Utilaje technicians will come to mentor and explain to the children everything they need to know in this industry. Including, Diana Broșiu who works in the marketing department is currently helping us with our project to publicize the Alex Tache Foundation and NEST House.
What are your plans for 2022?
In 2022 I would like to finalize the NEST House and retire from all the activities I have, delegating them to the people I have by my side. I envision that from summer I will be able to sit with the children, drop them off and pick them up from school, tell them of my life's adventures and the joy of living full and meaningful lives.
If you had to give people one message before Christmas and New Year, what would it be?
The winter holidays have always been my favorite time of the year, I love it when people come together and think more about each other. I would like to urge them to do so all year round and not to live on automatic mode buried in daily worries. Life is about loving people. To get involved in volunteering for any cause, and if they want to know more about us, they can meet us on the web www.fundatiaalextache.ro or facebook Alex Tache Foundation.
We thought it was the most appropriate time for such a true story. Around the holidays we are thinking of those less favored by fate and trying to be there for them. Especially when it comes to children. And this project also gives them the opportunity to learn a trade that will support them throughout their lives. Investing in children, in their future, is the smartest investment. You can get involved in this project and invest in the future. Find all the information on Foundation website.
We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work or the city and sometimes forget about the important things in life and our power to do good. Some people, like Alex Tache, have understood what it means to not have the essentials and wanted to give those around them a future. We are glad to be able to contribute to this beautiful story full of good and we hope that more and more people will contribute, in the way they can, to create a future for 12 souls. Cristian Broșiu, General Manager Nika Utilaje
