NEST House, a project about people with heart who invest in the future of disadvantaged children

Christmas is about telling beautiful stories and more importantly, bringing them to life. One such true story is the one told by Alex Tache through Nest House and brought to reality and with the help of the Nika Machinery.

Sometimes the people who are hardest hit by fate are the ones who do the most good in the world. One such man is Alex Tache, who has experienced first-hand what it means to struggle for 14 years with a difficult disease (bone cancer). He has managed to have the energy, enthusiasm and optimism to build a family home in which to raise 12 children in a safe and loving environment. For them she wants not only to support them until they reach adulthood (as in orphanages) but to prepare them for the future and teach them a trade. He hopes that they will become part of the good people who are taking Romania forward.

To this end, he has launched several social businesses so that the project can sustain itself and always have something to offer children. With the help of European funds, he built a furniture factory made of chipboard and solid wood and a pellet factory where children can learn a trade. In all of this, he is working with Nika Utilaje, which won the tender for the purchase of the machinery. Representatives of the machinery company were impressed by the young man's story and got fully involved in supporting the project.

But Alex best tells us the whole story.

Alex, you have an amazing life story. Please tell us a bit about it.

I have had the misfortune to receive the heavy cross of an incurable disease since I was 20 years old (bone cancer). It meant 14 years as long as two lifetimes of problems, over ten operations, four of them on my lungs, amputation of my left leg and loss of sight in my right eye. I wanted to turn this weight into something important that would change the world and give of my enthusiasm and strength to fight. I call it my "share of the good" that I owe the world. I wanted to inspire people to give up, to change destinies. This is how I came to conceive NEST House Project. I started to build a half-million euro house from sponsorships and donations, a project that almost no one believed in, but which made a statement: abandoned children have the right to equal opportunities. It's been 3 years since we started the project and we have completed the house 80% investing 300 000 euro there. In all this time we have received more than we hoped for, an unforgettable journey with wonderful people I have met and surrounded myself with, who are with me in life and project.

Tell us about NEST House. What did you set out to offer through it?

NEST House is a family home that will take in 12 abandoned children from the social protection system that is in transformation. The aim is to close down all large foster homes (100-200 children) and replace them with these family-type homes with a maximum of 12 beneficiaries, where the children will be in a family rather than institutional setting. We want to do more for them than that, we want to be the central people in their lives, the parents they never had. We want to provide them with a family environment, healthy and harmonious, just as we would for our own children, to support and advise them to find their way in life. NEST is an acronym that defines the principles by which we want to raise them: Nobility, Education, Enabling.

Since the construction of NEST House
You've said that you really want this family home to be sustainable. How did you plan to do this?

Although I think we built this house in a relatively short time, I have noticed how hard it is to raise the funds and if we can now stop the building site at any time without hurting anyone, when 12 lives will depend on us, we cannot tell them as casually that we are not eating or getting dressed today. So, we decided to be sustainable and turn our attention to some social business that will maintain the house, do more good deeds, but also help the development of Galicea Municipality, Valcea County. From European funds we have financed the establishment of some social entities, a complete workshop for manufacturing furniture from chipboard and wood and a pellet manufacturing line, the tender for the machinery was won by Nika Utilaje. We continue with our dreams and plans and we want to attract more European funds to set up an agri-pension because we have a lot of potential in the area.

You said the machines were supplied by Nika Utilaje. How did you meet the team and how did you collaborate?

I discovered by chance the company Nika Machinery after winning the project through a tendering process following the European funds procedure. Over time, I have been impressed by the professionalism with which they do their job. I first met Mr. Cristian Broșiu who gave us a very detailed presentation of their offer, then I met Adrian Broșiu who is also specialized in software and CNC. I was very surprised to learn that it is a family business. Learning about the back story, they decided to get more involved by donating several hand tools needed to work in the workshop and of Bia Software online furniture design software. So that we can teach a first trade to our small beneficiaries. Moreover, Nika Machine Technicians will come to mentor and explain to the children everything they need to know in this industry. Including, Diana Broșiu who works in the marketing department is currently helping us with our media project for the Alex Tache Foundation and NEST House.

What are your plans for 2022?

In 2022 I would like to complete NEST House and retire from all the activities I have, delegating them to the people I have at my side. I imagine that from the summer I will be able to stay with the children, taking them to and from school, telling them about my life's adventure and the joy of living full and meaningful lives.

If you were to give people one message before Christmas and New Year, what would it be?

The winter holidays have always been my favorite time of the year, I love that people are more supportive and thoughtful of each other. I'd like to urge them to do so all year round and not live on automatic mode buried in daily worries. Life is about loving people. Get involved in volunteering for any cause, and if they want to know more about us, they can meet us on the web www.fundatiaalextache.ro or facebook Alex Tache Foundation.

NEST House - Current Phase

We thought it was the best time for such a true story. Around the holidays we are thinking of those less fortunate by fate and trying to be there for them. Especially when it comes to children. And this project also provides them with the conditions to learn a job that will support them throughout their lives. Investing in children, in their future, is the smartest investment. You too can get involved in this project and invest in the future. Find all the information on foundation website.

We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work or the city and sometimes forget about the important things in life and our power to do good. Some people, like Alex Tache, have understood what it means not to have essentials and wanted to give those around them a future. We are glad to be able to contribute to this beautiful story of good and hope that more and more people will contribute, as they can, to creating a future for 12 souls.
