This holiday home in Denmark impressed me because, although white is dominant, it doesn't have that simple, minimalist Scandinavian design. Although the exterior is not very different from houses in the Nordic countries, the interior has more of the elegant rustic style of an English cottage combined with the brightness of Greek houses. It is a very successful combination of elegance and comfort, and is very pleasant and welcoming.
From the outside they appear to be several houses, but in reality they are the same building. They are so connected and arranged that each area has privacy without walls or doors separating them. The exterior walls are mainly what separate the areas.
The house is dominated by white. Not only the walls are white, but also the floors, beamsthe ceiling. The living room is generous, and the fact that there is no ceiling separating the loft area from the room makes the space feel much larger. One of the walls is decorated with many friezes and polychromes, similar to Greek houses, with a fireplace in the middle. The TV, magazines or decorative objects are "hidden" in the friezes, thus colouring the wall white.
Two areas are demarcated by sofas, one for socialising and another, further back, for those who want to watch TV shows.
The cracked wooden beams, like the flooring, have a white washed finish that doesn't hide the wood. Halfway down the living room the beams are covered and there is a sitting or study area with access via a simple staircase.
The splashes of colour in the room are given by the floral print cushions like the picture opposite the fireplace. The same floral print is also found in the TV area.
[adrotate banner="37″]Apart from sofas and armchairs, there are few pieces of furniture. These are wooden, rustic-style, reddish walnut stained and are nicely set off by the dominant white.
To the left of the entrance to the living room is a small hallway that transitions to the kitchen, built in an L-shape. Storage is also in niches built into the wall, which is a great place even for wine bottles.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, but does not waste space. Solid wood countertop is not missing.
Following the kitchen is the dining space, the dining room in our sense, dominated by the rustic wooden table.
Here too, the white walls are preserved, highlighting the paintings, the beams, the floor and the white washed attic ceiling. From the dinning room you can go directly out onto the terrace through a generous, white, 2-studded door with small glazing and archway.
As with the living room, here too the transition is made discreetly through a side passage into the bedroom area. In this area is the master bedroom, with its generous white queen-size bed, veiled canopy and bathroom.
The bedroom also has an exit to its own terrace, separated from the rest of the courtyard by the position of the body of the building.
[adrotate banner="38″]On the outside the house is just as beautiful and elegant. The combination of the anthracite grey and black of the wood on the one hand and the white of the windows and roof guards on the other is very successful. The yard is generous with lots of greenery.
There are several places where you can sit at the table, or where you can enjoy your afternoon cognac in peace. Cognac that you can get from the bar in the courtyard in the same Greek style that makes you think of beach, sun and holiday.
An elegant, beautiful and comfortable house, built away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in a rural area, so that those who come here can fully enjoy the beauty of nature and the tranquility that surrounds it.
