Comfort and rustic style in a log house built on the edge of town

How many of us don't dream of a place to escape to on weekends or holidays, a quiet place to unload all our accumulated stress? For many, a log house is their happy oasis, and some even decide to live in one permanently. Just like Ovidiu, who built his dream house just outside Târgu Neamț on the way to Suceava, up on a hill, close to where he spent his childhood. The place had become an inaccessible ravine that he turned into a little piece of heaven. The house, the gazebos in the yard, even the dog kennel are made of logs. The team's attention to detailDoralnicThe team that built them is everywhere, and the place really does look like an oasis of happiness.

Grove Cottage

Căsuța Crângului - as Ovidiu called his house in the woods - is a house with a basement, ground floor and first floor. Its construction is the natural consequence of his love for wood. He has always loved wood and this type of house. Ten years ago, he and Doralnic built a guest cottage - an enclosed gazebo with a room and a terrace - in the courtyard of the house where he lived. Here he would gather his friends for a barbecue, and when they came from further afield, they could stay in the cosy room. He liked that gazebo so much that he promised himself that, when possible, he would build a log house where he and his family could live permanently.

He moved into his new home just a month ago and is already very happy. It's well done, the stairs don't creak and there's no noise between levels. If the TV is on in the living room downstairs, the noise is not heard upstairs. This is also thanks to the very well done soundproofing. Basaltic wool 200 mm thick was used between the floors, the ceiling of the ground floor was panelled and the wooden floorboards were installed upstairs. The roof is also well insulated, also with basalt wool. They are waiting to see what the winter will be like. Although he hadn't moved in yet, he found that in summer he is fine and has no problems with heat upstairs. In her old house in town, built of brick and BCA, it was very hot in the summer, especially upstairs in the attic.

The heating in the house is on gas. Although he didn't have access to gas in the area, he was able to work around this, but also prepared a backup. In the living room, he installed a wood-burning fireplace which is connected to the radiators. So if the fire burns in the fireplace, the house can be heated too. He is happy with his new house and doesn't mind a cracked beam or a little creak. He says that if you love wood you shouldn't seek perfection at any cost but enjoy its beauty and unique qualities.

Man sanctifies the place or the transformation of a ravine into a small terraced park with pond

When you step out of the house, the view from the terrace is fairytale. The place, once a ravine where a stream flowed, has been transformed into a small terraced park, with a pond and a pontoon, with gazebos and a swing, with gravel paths, lots of greenery and special lighting. Everything - the pontoon, the gazebos, the swing, the dog kennel - is made of logs, made with the same care and attention to detail as the house. The grill sits in the large gazebo next to the house, along with a round table and rustic round-stool chairs. A true "silent table" ready, however, for less silent gatherings 😊. For 'silence' you can choose the gazebo at the end of the pontoon or the one beyond the pond.

The transformation, as Ovidiu tells it, is radical. My grandparents used to live on the street where the house is now built. The childhood spent here, with its adventures, games and joys, has never left his heart. So when she had the chance, she bought the place and invested in it, transforming it completely. She cleaned it up and terraced it, planted trees and laid sod, landscaped the pond. Throughout the yard there are well-hidden irrigation and lighting systems so you can enjoy the light and greenery without tripping over wires and pipes.

Although it would have been simpler and probably cheaper to concrete the whole place, Ovidiu chose to put gravel on the paths, to let the grass grow among the bigger stones placed in the area of the gazebo and the swing, to border the paths with stone. "He could," the grumblers will say. But so could the one who paves over the whole yard, cutting down trees because there are too many leaves in the fall and they're hard to sweep, "maybe." Ovid chose to plant trees, lay grass and tend to them. And so, investing soul and toil, he "sanctified" the place.

The Grove Cottage had a good and serious builder

He also had the good fortune (and the intelligence 😉 ) to work with serious and skilled people, from the group of those who consider that the job is gold bracelet. He was telling me about Savu - a member of the team Doralnic- that "you wonder what he can do with a chainsaw". He's known it since 10 years ago, when he worked on the log cabin he made for guests. Continuity in the team, constant improvement, unity among team members are the reasons why Doralnic always delivers quality. Good people are retained and appreciated and this shows in their loyalty and the seriousness with which they work.

"They're all hardworking, serious and good guys. And skilful! They come up with solutions to any problem and they come through. With Dorin (Dorin Văideanu - owner of the company) you always get along, even if you come up with changes along the way. I would work with them anytime."

We were happy to see again people doing their job well, teams working together for years and beneficiaries happy with the collaboration on site and what they receive at the end. Let's see that you can work well with customer satisfaction in mind, even when you're putting an outlet on the wall that looks like it grew out of a log. That it's possible to meet deadlines, to come when you promised to come and finish when you said you would. That you can solve any problem that comes up along the way without repeated pleas and without risky improvisation.

And all thanks to a well-trained, well-welded and, above all, well-managed and guided team. Congratulations, Doralnic!
