Zsofra Tamas: Quality carpentry with almost 60 years of tradition

Mihai Andras Tamas: "Maybe the customer doesn't care what machines you work with in the workshop or how hard it is in production. The customer is interested in the quality you offer and the time you can deliver. How well and smoothly you work to achieve the level of quality the customer wants is strictly up to you. If you want to work both smoothly, well and quickly, you need quality machinery."

INTERVIEW Felder Gruppe Romania: Mihai Andras Tamas, Zsofra Tamas, Cluj

How did you get into this field?

Mihai Andras Tamas: My passion for wood runs in my family, my father was a carpenter. From him I learned to make furniture by working as an apprentice. We are reaching 60 years of tradition in woodworking. My father also started carpentry at the age of 15. Since 2003 I have been working alone and have been passing on this craft from father to son.

What exactly do you produce?

Mihai Andras Tamas: We mainly make office furniture, office furnishings, but we also make designer furniture pieces. At the moment we are working with a design company that has contracts with IT companies, and we do office production. We work primarily on these projects, then we also take individual orders from private customers. Usually, individual clients just come to us with sketches or pictures and tell us what they would like. We strive to do exactly what they want and we work without technical drawings, without sketches with details, and this is sometimes difficult.

How did you come to work with Felder machines?

Mihai Andras Tamas: Some of our colleagues had Felder machines and not only did we get good references, but we saw them work well. In 2007 we got our first Felder machine, the KF 700 S PRO combined cutting/milling machine, which we were very happy with. Unfortunately, in 2018 we ran into trouble and had to buy all the machines we needed again. Of course, we got them all from Felder Gruppe Romania.
