From hobbyist to professional with the Hammer HNC 47.82 CNC from Felder Gruppe

I think I've told you before that I don't like walking around the mall or going to stores to buy clothes or shoes. When I need to buy something I just go to my 2-3 favorite stores, pick out 5-6 choices from the first, go into the dressing room and have to come out with something suitable. If I don't find it, I go home. I don't walk around, I don't go into other shops. Visiting DIY stores is a completely different story. I can stand a whole day among the shelves, honestly surprised when I'm told it's closing time. In this context, realise the excitement when I saw the Hammer HNC 47.82 CNC, the Black Friday surprise from Felder Gruppe. It came bundled with another surprise, a 4 year G+ warranty as opposed to the standard 2 year warranty. If I had it, I don't think you'd be able to talk to me for a while, quite a while I think. Even though it looks like a toy, it's a full-fledged CNC, 4-axis, with all that computer-aided machining. True, you can't machine 3×2m sheets of chipboard, but the machining accuracy is the same. If you're passionate about computer-aided machining, have a small workshop or are a small parts manufacturer, it looks like the equipment you need.

CNC Hammer HNC Felder Gruppe Romania

Hammer HNC 47.82

The Hammer HNC 47.82 CNC is this year's Austrian production. It seems that at the Felder Gruppe factory near Innsbruck the pandemic has stimulated creativity. It's a 4-axis CNC, the 3 classic axes - X, Y and Z - the fourth allowing machining around the axis, like a lathe. There are actually 2 models, both 4-axis, the difference between them being that one has the milling aggregate as standard (2.2 kW electrospindle), while the the other is chosen from the available options of the engine router.

Despite its small size the Hammer HNC 47.82 is very stable and rigid ensuring repeatable results. The T-slotted aluminium machining table allows simple and easy clamping of parts and accessories. Hammer's range of clamping fixtures can be used or some you can make yourself. The machining dimensions of the table are 825 x 479 mm and the height of the machined object can be max.160 mm.

With the CNC it is possible to do simple milling, milling/cutting and relief milling and profiling on wood. Small and delicate parts can be machined with finesse and accuracy. Optionally, the machine can be equipped with a height-adjustable router exhaust hood with 32 mm extraction connection, keeping the work area clean at all times.

Hammer HNC 47.82 is delivered fully assembled, lubricated and calibrated. It can be used as soon as it has been unpacked and connected to a power source and the computer that will operate it. It fits perfectly on a EURO pallet and has a total weight of 80 kg. To obtain the desired results the machine must be positioned on a perfectly flat stand. Installation instructions can be found here.

Services included in the Felder Gruppe Romania offer

To receive an offer for one or other of the CNCs you need to go to the website Felder Gruppe Romania and register. If you don't register, you don't see the prices. Information on how to register and here. Included in the price is the 2-year extended warranty through Felder Gruppe Romania's G+ program, dedicated warranty and post-warranty technical support anywhere in Romania and a wide range of technical support services such as training, installation and repairs through the Blitz Service program.

Hammer HNC 47.82 covers a missing segment of the Romanian market. At one time I wanted to find a hobby CNC at woodworking machinery dealers and I failed. The Felder CNC may be that serious "toy" desired by many manufacturers with small to medium sized workshops, who make small items out of wood, don't have enough space or are still in their infancy. In such situations an industrial CNC can either be too much for their level or too expensive.
