MaxFLEX Premium ribbon webs from Wood-Mizer

MaxFLEX is one of the Wood-Mizer brands of bandsaw blades. Wood-Mizer designed this cloth with the goal of making a durable, universal cloth with increased flexibility and extended life. Wood-Mizer specialists carefully selected special alloys from European steel manufacturers to give the blade a longer life and hardened each tooth tip through an induction process, resulting in a durable blade with maximum cutting performance. Each tooth is precision honed by computer-controlled equipment and the sharpening of the blade teeth is done using super abrasive CBN technology.

During tests in the factory laboratory, these saw blades demonstrated significantly better resistance to bending stress than other designs. When the time came for additional field testing, MaxFLEX saw blades were made available to Wood-Mizer band saws around the world.

The Czech company, Drevodiskont, processes pine and spruce wood with an LT20 hydraulic saw, followed by an EG300 circular edger. This company used to use DoubleHARD saw blades, but when MaxFLEX blades were launched in 2014, they agreed to try them. Drevodiskont's production manager, Radek Tausch, had the new blades tested and, after the necessary measurements, found that using MaxFLEX blades could cut faster. "The cutting speed has increased, while the quality of the plank remains high, there are no 'warped' planks. So every day we cut 1 cubic metre more timber," says Radek.

The Bulgarian company, Steel MS, operates two Wood-Mizer LT20 hydraulic saws for the manufacture of structural elements from local softwood species for builders and hardwood lumber for furniture manufacturers. In 2015, they received MaxFLEX saw blades for testing. "With this cloth, the cutting speed is higher," confirmed Stanislav Dimitrov Penev, co-owner of the company. "We cut about 8 cubic meters in 10 hours on each LT20 saw".

In this way, MaxFLEX saw blades create a competitive advantage for saw operators by increasing productivity through high cutting speeds. This has been fully appreciated by companies for whom high productivity and high quality are equally important key criteria, especially when producing sawn timber for export. There are many of these saws in Romania, and customer choice is clearly in favour of MaxFLEX blades. In the years since the MaxFLEX was launched, it has become the most popular Wood-Mizer saw blade in Romania.

All MaxFLEX blades have a 10° hook angle (10/30 tooth profile) and 22.225 mm tooth spacing. These sails are available in thicknesses of 1.07 mm or 1.14 mm and widths of 32 mm, 35 mm or 38 mm. MaxFLEX blades are welded to customisable lengths and delivered ready for use.
